It appears to be still whitelisted....but I don't see anything in the @LAR_Systems DB for it.  Has anybody folded on an old Radeon HD 5700 series card?  (I found a 5770 1 gig card I'd forgotten about)

 

My best guess from the 5800 and 5600 series numbers in the DB is it might get slightly better than 10k PPD.  Definitely not worth it for the pure power usage...but as a spare heater for the folding month...

fairly certain they are too old now. Only way to know is to try but they probably will say no wu for you i had im fairly certain a hd 7870 that didn't work 2 years ago...

I would have figured you would ask for an H100 as well to help with the structural confirmation computing..

It won't be in my list unless someone is folding with it using the extension.

IIRC those aren't supported anymore. Even if they were the efficiency would be horrendous. Fine as a very small space heater, but completely destroyed by a GT 1030 for efficiency.

I noticed one inherent flaw with your database which I'm not sure is solvable, the PPD vs KW is presumably based on normal clocks due to averaging over all results submitted?  So it doesn't reflect on people folding with tweaked TDP to find that perfect efficiency point.

Conversely if enough people did fold using tweaked TDP, it could be misleading to anyone who isn't.

Presumably it would need more data, such as a dedicated app able to probe the cards PL to refine such data?  I guess ultimately that's what this forum is for though.

Meanwhile.....

 

So glad I got the FE, its a much more sane design (the only card that would fit without excessive bending on the power connector) and half the heat goes out the back whereas all the AIBs are designed to put the entire heat load into the case.

Its also very sturdy when installed so unlikely to sag and using less power than the 3080 (set to 80% TDP).

The 12VHPWR connector is WAY smaller than it looks in pictures, mental.

Got the 2080 down at 120W due to not being able to see the hotspot on Linux.

I believe @Shlouski found the sweet spot on theirs to be around 2200MHz on 18601 (Alzheimer's) so you might try:

nvidia-smi -i 0 -lgc 0,2200

and see what happens.

Thanks, at the moment I've just cranked the power limit down as low as possible as I'm baking.

Keep an eye on its yield. Ampere and Ada let you lower the Power Limit below the efficiency peak so it tends to fall off a cliff if you go too low.

 

I feel you WRT the heat. Last weekend was brutal here due to unseasonably warm weather. This weekend looks better, 13C tomorrow and 4C on Sunday with a chance of wet flurries. Still, I'm not cranking the power this weekend, just running at the peak efficiency so that will drop my power from 2.8kW down to 2.4kW which should also help.

Also noticed that the 480 is listed at something like 225W, any particular reason for that? I've got my max bin XFX card with "use as much power as you want" power limit set and the highest I saw it go was about 130W, and the official TDP of the card is 150W.

At 105W its still showing 1.8M which considering it replaced the 1650 at 75W pushing 600K, that's still pretty good if it sticks to that.

Were talking about the ASUS Turbo Hair-Dryer 2080 not the 4090.

I'm trying to limit because its VRM cooling has degraded so the hot spot is way too high at 100%, plus the ASUS Turbo with hair-dryer cooler which gets obnoxiously loud if you cool it sufficiently at 100% TDP even when it was new.
