Hair loss. Those affected, how did you deal with it?

I'm in my 40s and my top is quite thin.  Hairline isn't receding but the top is ultra thin.  Specially when wet.

 

I'm not doing surgery or Finasteride.  I don't want boobs and I don't want to kill my sex drive.  It turns you female basically.

 

I'm either going to try minoxidil or embrace it and go Joe Rogan and shave it off.

What about you guys?

Careful with minoxidil it can cause issues also alter on and its a temporary "fix", i have used it and the moment you stop using it all of the hair that you have "saved" is gone in a month. Also it has a loooong list of when you can not use it so be sure to read it thoroughly. 

Second it will destroy you scalp skin and for my friend he used it a lot more then i and lets just say he cant leave the house without a hat on a sunny day.

I personally embraced the bald life style and shaving plus a nice hair trimmer when i don`t have time.

 

IMO so far i didn't discover any solution that is actually giving you back your hair without some nasty side effect and you just can`t fight genetics.

Mine's thinning on top but it's not real noticeable unless wet.  

 

Started using minoxidil about 6 months ago.  I haven't noticed it get any thicker, but I don't see my comb full of hair anymore after a few days.  

 

It's kind of a hassle to use and doubt I'll continue doing this twice a day for life, even though the generic stuff isn't real expensive.  Once my face starts looking old I'll just say fuck it and stop since it'll be pointless by then.

Consult with a dermatologist instead of asking a tech forum whether something works for hair loss or not.

My hair has been thinning since my early 20ies, I really don't care since I have cut my hair short (as in 2 mm on the entire head) since I was 12 years old. 

 

I could give you all kinds of advice but CBA since I really don't care about it on my self and I don't care about it on other people with one exception: people that go out of their way to try and hide it, because then it becomes so damn more obvious and just silly, also I've seen people doing hair transplantation surgery and as time passes inevitably the rest of the natural hair falls off and they are are left with tufts of (what looks like) barbie hair.

 

 

But here goes a try: Just accept it, it's part of how you are made and unlike in example being fat it isn't really something you can control. Body acceptance yada yada yada.

I too am becoming very thin on top (Mid 30's), I personally don't care except one fact. The uneven growth pisses me off.

I want it to all just stop growing / fall out or grow evenly....

Generally speaking its finestaride or the highway (depending on the root cause which most often is dht). Even with a hairtransplant  you'll have to jump on finestaride or else it will absolutley just fall out again.

 

If you arent comfterable using finestaride (+minoxodil) you'll simply have to go bald.

26 year old with a receding hairline here, I always keep my hair short and try to get 3-4mm cuts every month or so. When it gets long, i shed more hair than the cat does.

Yeaaaah, if you're thinning that badly, just shave it all and grow a beard or something. Though not everyone is suited for that look. You could just embrace the bald spot and not care too much about it.

Surgery through Artas FUE is certainly the "best" option if you want to keep your hair, since that's basically a permanent solution due to it taking the hair follicle from areas where hair doesn't fall off and putting them up top, thus they are no longer affected by the thing that causes hair loss. But it cost like $10k and you might need two or three of those surgery. So that's not for everybody. I'm personally saving up for it and might just get it in 10 years or so, here's hoping the price will come down by then or something new will be available...

 

Minoxidil is ok, but all the progress made will be lost right away if you stop it. And if it's already advanced balding, it won't have much effect. It's also bad for the scalp, like others have said. Finasterine is ok, but it can cause erectile disfunction too.

I bought minoxidil and will give it a try on my face first and see if my facial hair gets thicker.

If so then I will try it on my head.  If I see good results I'll maintain it.  If not then I'll embrace the bald look.

I have a weird flat head.  But that doesn't look as silly as those comb overs.  Something I would never ever do.

 

I also would never spray black paint on my scalp or glue a dead rat's hide.  I could never take the embarrassment if my rug were to fly off my head while in front of a lot of people.  LOL!

Im getting thin up top. As soon as I get a bald spot, the hair will be shaved. Thankfully my beard grows nicely. Ill just have to go to wearing hats, mainly to protect my head from getting burned.

Not really something you should be joking about - but let's go there. "Transsexuals" (which, in and of itself is a rather dated term) specifically refers to transgender people who have already had sex reassignment surgery. As far as they are concerned, they finally are who they were on the inside.

I started losing it about 30 and just said fuck it, grabbed the clipper and shaved that shit down. I don't go the full Rogan with a razor, just clipper without a guard to keep it pretty short. Never could understand the people who would get gross looking hairpieces or even worse do that ridiculous sideways combover. Doesn't make you look like you have hair, just makes you look really self conscious. I don't really miss it much, hair is a pain in the ass, other than needing to wear a hat in the winter.

My hairline started receding when I was 15. Basically every male will encounter hairloss and there are some fixes. You could use finasteride but that kills your libidos and can lead to heart tissue damage. Miniodixl is safe but you have to use it forever and it doesn't work on hairlines. Then there are hair transplants which will work and give you exactly what you want. But insurance doesn't cover it so it's going to be $10,000- $20,000 out of pocket. Honestly just shave your head and stop worrying about it. Women don't care

Transexual definition -  people experiencing a gender identity that is inconsistent with their assigned sex and desire to permanently transition to the sex or gender with which they identify, usually seeking medical assistance to help them align their body with their identified sex or gender.

 

Says nothing about when their surgery takes place.

 

Nobody joked specifically about transexuals or disrespected them.  Don't make things up.

 

 

My point it is in our society, some groups of people are told to put on their big boy pants and to accept reality about their bodies.  But you tell the same thing to another group of individuals, your life is finished.
