PC turns on but wont boot

I just built my friend a new pc. It powers on just fine and all the lights and fans come on. It opens into bios just fine, but the boot light on the mobo comes on. Ive tried everything I know to do to try to get a boot. It detects my hard drive but no boot. This hard drive came from his old computer so I think that might have something to do with it. SPECS BELOW

AMD Ryzen 5 5500

Stock AMD Cooler

MSI B550 Gaming Gen3

G.Skill Ripjaws V DDR4 16gb

WD Black WD1003FZEX 1TB SATA Hard Drive

Zotac Gaming 1660 Super

EVGA 600 B1 600w psu

Are you trying to boot windows off the hard drive?

You have to get an SSD (preferably M.2 NVMe) so buy one and try to install a clean Windows on it.

You can't have an OS on an HDD nowadays.

Edit : disconnect the HDD if you do that and I'm not sure how the PC will react when you reconnect that HDD after installation

I'm willing to swim against the current.

Its the same hard drive that was in the old pc. when i say old i mean old, like 10+ years old. but that was the only storage device in that system so everything is on it. im prob just gonna get a m.2 and ditch the hdd.

It's possible that it needs CSM as it may not be a UEFI if it's that old
