I've got my two rigs and my wife's work computer (shhhh!) in it:  1660 Super, R9 280, and GTX 1050. I think there's one or two CPUs in there somewhere but who cares.

i'm doing 2 systems:

 

system 1

Threadripper 1950X

SLI RTX 2080's

 

system 2

dual Xeon E5 2660 V2's

RTX 2080Ti

RTX 2070 Super.

 

should be enough for about 11M PPD.

I'm gonna struggle this year I can tell. Last year I think I managed to stay in top 50, but this year? Forget it RTX too powerful

Cuz we're all going around and saying what we're folding with, I have my (un)trustworthy vega 56. I think I finally have my black screen woes under control which is nice. I will probably use my cpu to mine monero or do a boinc project.

It really depends on what you value, for me it's mostly getting rid of the noise, although, PPD/watt isn't great, with CUDA boost I imagine it would still fair better than many AMD cards.

I'm going to be throwing in a 3080, a 2080ti, a 2080 Super (Laptop), a 970, and... a 670MX!

That 670MX is really going to be my linchpin this go around. The CUDA patch gave it significant performance uplifts!

The 670MX laptop has been folding (originally mining) off and on for the better part of 8 years. You'd be surprised how durable laptops can be if you give them some external help with cooling!

Edit: I should probably mention that I still don't recommend doing this on newer hardware or hardware that you care about, I pretty much only break out folding on my primary laptop for these events.

i onlt break out folding on my laptops that still have warranty and are worth using  already fried my XPS 15 once and Leela(my all in 1) 2 times. and a few older XFX PSUs.

That's a good way of looking at it - just think of it as maximizing the value of your warranty plan

they asked what i was doing when the card died its like playing Halflife 2. i almost always buy the max warranty then sell the device with 1-2 years left so the buyer has a good feeing buying used and doesnt have to worry about it...but Jr was bought with minimum warranty so hence why he stuck around lol...
