LTT Official Folding Month 2020!!!

Go to solution Solved by GOTSpectrum,

Luckily when I said it was almost done, I really meant it.

For the last time in 2020, ladles and gentlespoons, here a blog post.

And with that said, it's a wrap! Thank you for everyone getting involved, if you'd like to continue talking about folding why not head over to The Folding Community Board

is there some sort of listing one can check to see whose participating?

my GTX970 is stuck on the lower P-state where the memclock wouldnt go up to 7000 (stuck at 6000)

any known fix? core clock is fine, just mem clock, so if that doesnt matter then all good

edit: is 160k PPD normal for a GTX 970?

edit 2: gpu usage stuck on 60% for GTX970

Mine never go over 6000 no matter what I do.

!60k is quite low... I use to get 250k to 300k but yesterday, they changed how F@H deal with CUDA and I'm now closer to 350k-450k.

If you have and older PC like me (i7 2600), I would suggest not to fold with the CPU and close every other running programs, especially your browser. The CPU can't keep up otherwise.  It has enough cores but there seem to be a bottleneck somewhere (DDR3?). This used to keep my usage (60%) and PPD (150k) quite low.

I was looking at the top 10 from the covid 19 event, seems we have lost a few of the big folders that made it into the top 10's, they haven't been on in months, shame.

Just an FYI, if you updated GPU drivers check your OC utility to make sure it aint borked, my 1080 has been running with no OC and a 50% power limit for the last couple days without my knowledge, running with 1550-1650mhz clock speeds on the core.

I run beta WUs so I'm wondering did we get a few of them before the main roll out as my graph looks different. The two dips where scheduled maintenance

Possibly.

I would just like to now that this time last year my average was like 1.6M or something. between C22, moonshot WU's and now CUDA I've gained so much in the last year without touching a damn thing it's insane (we all have truthfully)

I am gearing up to the event. today is used for testing.

I downloaded the chrome plugin, and installed the newest NVidia drivers, and the new folding@home app.

I can say that the new cuda support, kills it.

Compared to last time i folded, (february-april 2020) my PPD is up from 800k PPD to pt 1680k PPD, that is over 100% perf increase on my gtx 1080.

The current project is 13426, and i will see what the final stats end up being. But this is realy nice.

EDIT: Would exepect it to be even higher if i was not using the machine at the same time.

No No No, Thank YOU !

I started folding in the 2018 event, but was to late for the signup. So this is only my second event officially.

My plan is for next year, is to make a 24/7 folding rig of some sorts, when i am finished with studying, and hopefully get a job. Then the expenses is easier to handle of such a device. I am thinking of contribuing 100W to the cause, the most effecient way possible. Maybe a 3070 limited to 100W? who knows.

For this event i hope to get my hands on a FE 3080. But i don't have my hopes high.
