Camcorder Under 300

Hi all,

 

I need a video camera with an external mic input. I was thinking about a camcorder but I haven’t been able to find one for under my 300 budget. Does anyone know of any?

Are you willing to buy used, and if so what country are you in?

 

Do you need a "real" lens, or can you get away with something like a decent smartphone?

It’s for a school department so it has to be a real lense - I’m based in the UK
