I live in misery USA. my timezone is central daylight time which is either UTC -5 or -4 because the government hates everyone.

Not immediately but it will not be able to complete the WU and also cannot upload the results once done for points if it's disconnected when it's done with the WU.
It will "Stop" at the next 10% of the WU. If you must disconnect use the pause feature, let it stop folding and THEN disconnect or shut down the system. If you don't you lose the entire WU and have to start over again.

I'm kinda part-time folding, so joining the event just makes sense.

 

Depending on the sort of people you're looking for, for the data handling, I would be happy to help.

The two weeks of the event are kind of busy weeks for me, but I'm happy to make some free time to help out!

Just gotta do some quick maths and you'll know in seconds!

d = (g - c) / ppd

d = days until

g = goal

c = current points

ppd = points per day

 

Or you can just fold away and not have the suspense ruined ;)

I love seeing how excited everyone is to fold, will be setting up my system to fold tonight before I go to bed!

With the 2080 at full power you should be in the 2mPPD range (if I remember correctly). That would net you 28M points, not including what you'd make on the 5600XT and the 4790k which will both be significantly lower. So you might not hit gold but you'll get really close

@The King of the Undead Also know the longer it takes to complete the assigned WU the less points from it you get.
It's like a countdown of points vs time once a WU is assigned to you.

 

I don't know if it's true anymore or not but used to be if you dropped too many WU's and so on you got "Tagged" as an unreliable and you didn't get as many, if any of the good WU's.

I may F@H for this.  Will research all this later.  Shouldn't be any harder than getting a mining operation set up lol.  Though I am not allowed to repurpose those RVII's to this, I can use my personal rigs.

Excited to help! It's been a while since I've looked at folding much. Is it best to set cause preference to "all" in this situation? Also, besides power use, is there any downside to folding with CPU as well as GPU? (BTW, if helpful, I'm running a GTX 1070 and i7 6700)

I have been a passionate participant at BOINC@ESL, made it to the 1 year award but then it slowed down and eventually collapsed there due to the diminishing support. Happy to see that i can use my quite new system now to support this case. I hope i have done everything right for now, see below :).

Definitely not! It's super simple, and there's a few good install guides on here whether you're running windows or Linus. Currently Navi cards are supported on windows, but have having trouble getting up and running on Linux.

Besides power use, not really. CPU's are just less efficient at folding when it comes to power drawn and the PPD (points per day) produced. Just make sure you leave one core open per Nvidia GPU. (So dont try to fold with all 4 cores and 8 threads)

Apparently they are still creating new WU's for this and it's one I haven't seen in any lists (yet).

Just got a 11748 WU and it's running now.

Getting my second rig setup :)

LTT's Resident Porsche fanboy and nutjob Audiophile.

 

Main speaker setup is now;

 

Mini DSP SHD Studio -> 2x Mola Mola Tambaqui DAC's (fed by AES/EBU, one feeds the left sub and main, the other feeds the right side) -> 2x Neumann KH420 + 2x Neumann KH870

 

(Having a totally seperate DAC for each channel is game changing for sound quality)
