@Elektra57 You want to use a GPU instead of a CPU for folding.

The guys here can help you with getting it going that way if they need to. Just remove the CPU slot and create a GPU slot - That's really it and you'll be folding in no time.

There are CPU Corona WUs out too, right? I was processing a few which were in advanced stage.

It already had the gpu slot, removed the cpu slot. Thanks!!!!

You can leave the CPU slot running, if you want to. Although my understanding is that it won't draw in as much points per day, and if power draw is a big concern it may be best to leave it off.

With 3700x and 5700xt should I use CPU or GPU?

Nvm, it seems to use both (even when task manger shows gpu at 0-2% usage)

I'd really like to contribute but BOINC causes both of my PC's to crash, possibly due to thermaling. I don't have any issues with crashing or overheating under 'normal' use.

BOINC differs from F@H a bit tough. you could always try running it. worst case scenario you crash again, best case scenario you help the search for a cure :)

Actually, I mistyped...I tried F@H about a week ago with a RX 5700 but it caused my newer PC to crash within 10 minutes. The CPU is overclocked though... I've used BOINC on my other PC and it was clear that it was overheating my RX 570. I do wish F@H provided a more user friendly GUI and more control over how much CPU/GPU time it uses...

I went through the options and it appears that as far as the web interface, you have light medium or full load. Within the application itself, I couldn't find any options to lower the load on my PC.

I'm going to try again tonight to run this project...

Are there any options from within the application to lessen the load on my PC a bit?

Covid doesn't seem to be in the priority options though. Are they still working on rolling out the project? image.png.4d5ea37ecd3820684da2db6b6a02fcae.png

You can right-click the tray icon when the program is running and you will see some selections, one is "Advanced Control" and when you bring that up the slider is there so you can set it to medium.

@rkv_2401 Yes, folding on the CPU can be done of course but the points and progress aren't really worth the power consumed to do it that way, GPU is by far the best as I've been doing with mine.

What WU's you get assigned is random chance, there is no guarantee what WU you'll get so take what you do get and fold it.

I'm a bit of an idiot. Is there a way to make my CPU fold for COVID-19 as well? It seems to be folding for any disease.

There is no way to select the specific COVID-19 WUs, but just hang in there and you will get some. They are handed out with higher priority!
