I think this is a good enough break down on what we'd end up spending our money on if we won that much like after tax

-Farm $1,000,000
-set aside $8,700,000 for monthly disbursements for 1,044 months (87 years) [$83,333.33/mo]
-donate $5,000,000 to local Autism Society
-donate $5,000,000 to Autism Society of America
-Cars and Restorations $1,300,000

$21M reserved
$29M Buffer for other costs

Not sure exactly what you mean but bitcoin is a horrible investment IMO. Too volatile. Gold is where it's at. You can sink large sums of money into it and actually have something physical that is always going to be worth a lot.

He sold his company for $100m and now only has a net worth of something like $4m. I say "only" but it's well known he squandered his wealth and failed to properly invest it. Granted, he did try.

What's even crazier is that he made that $100m in the mid 90's. So adjusting for inflation, he really sold it for nearly $167m and now he is down to $4m in today's money. It isn't even $4m cash, just net worth.

I also forgot to mention that one of the things I would do is seek out indie content creators and give them cash infusions. I'd also make my dream video game collection become a reality and probably have a lot of limited edition anime box sets and merch. But investing money would be my biggest goal.

To start with, not a single penny would go to charity, unless it's buying something from a charity shop and I'm getting something in return.

I would put a low ball offer in of £1.5m on the house at the end of my street (in an area where the average house price is closer to £50k).

I would then start my own property development company because there's a shortage of housing in my area, and I should be the one profiting from it, not the big housebuilders! Maybe buy a few dozen rental properties as well to take advantage of the poor people in the area

I would then lease a few cars (not buy, because unless you plan on keeping a car more than a few years, and out of warranty, it's not worth buying outright). Since the house I want has a 6 car garage, I'd probably get a Tesla Model X, Tesla Model 3, Volvo XC90, Range Rover, Suzuki Jimni and a Smart ForTwo.

I would then buy a double decker bus and convert it into a luxury RV (this will happen with or without the 50 million!)

The rest would then be invested in multiple placed depending on the market

Retire and Travel a bunch till I was tired of it. I already run pretty close to my dream PC. I would pout more money into pc chassis and have some fun exotic cooling like using water chillers https://koolance.com/exc-800-portable-800W-recirculating-chiller. Build a better old school video game cave then I have. Collect more games for consoles that are harder to find.

- Buy a house for me and pay off my families mortgages and "do up" their houses for them.

- Buy a new car for me and my family who want one (and a track car for me lol).

- Become a full time streamer.

- Buy anything I've ever wanted but I only have 2 days to do it (i.e. a drone, new phone etc..)

- Invest the rest.

Don't forget to @me / quote me for a reply =]

I'd buy the single most outlandish Lamborghini (or equivalent exotic) I could find, put in the passenger seat the hottest chick I could find/rent, and travel to all my enemies and wish them a good life as I drive off laughing all the way to the bank.

Because what good is lots of money if you can't flaunt it?

Apple shares were $1 too once upon a time.  There was a “buy a share save the company” drive.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.

DIfference is that it was a long time ago, AMD's was at $1 when I had tons of money at the time to spend. That what makes it painful

So we're all gamers, we all dream of quad 2080 ti and and 9900ks, what kind of setup would you guys get with that kind of money, I would donate to charity, my family and just never get a job and die a gamer.

If I won $50m USD - I would first see if I could receive the winnings in CAD instead, since in the US, lottery winnings are taxable, but they are tax free in Canada.

So, aside from that, let's say I get a cheque for $50m USD.

First, I'd pay off my remaining student debt, then I would buy a decent house ($500K in my area - more if I wanted a swaggy upscale neighbourhood like the area I currently rent in).

After that, I'd set aside $1m for "spending money" - for stuff like new car (or cars), new PC, new TV, upgraded surround system, etc - and give my closest relatives at least $50K each (or setup an RRSP or TFSA for them).

I'd likely donate some to charity. And the rest, which would likely still be in the neighbourhood of $45m or more, I would invest for retirement and financial independence.

Most people who win that kind of money end up losing it, because they find ways to spend it all, with giant mansion houses, dozens of cars, throwing lavish parties, etc.

  • give a fat chunk of change to my dad so he can pay off both houses and buy himself a new truck straight outta the gate, and build his dream home while having a nice buffer if there's any emergencies

I owned like 10 shares of AMD stock when it was around the $2 mark - but I was in a position where I had to sell all the shares because I was broke AF right out of school and needed every penny.

I've since re-invested a single share of theirs. Most of my investments go into ETF's that are balanced, and the small portion of direct stock I own, are mostly dividend stocks that pay well and are reliable in their payout schedules.
