What if this is intentional on Apple's part, to prevent filthy Windows users from using their technology?

Apple is magic. It could literally have a gun pop out of it and shoot you dead and apple sheeps would call it genius.

The issue is likely not even related to the speakers themselves. Probably some component blowing somewhere along the way.

They'll deny the issues for 5+ years and say that it only affects "a small amount" of users, even if they receive complaints from a large amount of users.

I predict the official repair program for this issue will come 2 years later for the low low price of $150 because Apple always takes care of their customers. Even if the customer already replaced the problematic device a year before the repair program was announced.

To be fair, it's not clear what caused the issue yet, so we can't conclude it is installing windows per se. It could very well be another issue with the USB ports that got triggered in his particular case while plugging the controller. If it's a power management issue of some sort, it will be hard to reproduce (i.e., it will happen under different circumstances each time), so it may take a while for Apple to diagnose and fix (assuming the even try :P).

Apple lovers will blame ms for the problem and not apple. Too bad tech news is not on the front page, or people really care for it.

Or it's some weird driver issue.

Is it possible that the speakers run on USB instead of a traditional audio controller and that the USB controller just isn't good? Because I thought I had heard that this MBP has issues running some USB devices concurrently.

It is not even clear as to what blew out the speaker. Can't point fingers at anyone until you find the true cause here.... Could be Windows or maybe the dongle/controller caused something. I mean who knows?

If software can cause an audio device to overload it's speakers, then the amplifier feedback in the hardware is too low. The amp should be attenuated so no matter what software or drivers try and do, the output cannot over-drive the speakers, or line in of the next device along. I hope no poor bastard had headphones in when this happened to them. Apple would never hear the end of it, and the user may never hear again.

Because they're not a safety risk to the consumer, and can be fixed with software patches.

Removing bootcampt completely would do that much more easily, though not as spectacularly so I grant you that.
