AMD's RX 480 hits half the performance of a Titan X (Pascal) at 8K resolution

TweakTown has just released benchmarks of Gears of War 4 at a whopping resolution of  7680x2160 (8K)

As you can see in the graph below the RX 480 hits half the performance of NVIDIA's pascal based Titan X, which is fucking insane considering the Titan X costs 5 times more.112_100_gears-war-benchmarked-dx12-8k-re

where's the power consumption graph? All joking about crap efficiency aside, This news bodes well for those not happy with 1080p and 1440p, or even 4K for that matter.

These scores are purely just to show what a card can push out, of course no one is going to play at 8K right now, you can't even hit 20 frames, not playable at all, but it just shows where our current cards place.

I find this to be completely useless considering that price has never been a good measure of a GPU's performance.

It's not necessarily comparing the prices of the cards, it's comparing the scores that you can achieve when you spend 5 times less.

But won't RX 490 be a VEGA card?

And the 730 costs <10% less than the 770, yet gets 20% the performance. We can't compare AMD to Nvidia since the architectures may have some under-the-hood features that we don't know about.

Actual 8k is 16 times the pixels of1080.

7680x2160 is only 8 times. Hence me saying it is not 8k.

At 8K, memory bandwidth is very heavily taxed. I think all this shows you is that the Titan XP has about twice the effective memory bandwidth of the RX 480. Which... it does.

So... You're saying that the R9 Fury X will be succeeded by... the RX Fury X... and then the RXI Fury X?
