Turkey is about to ban Minecraft

The Turkish government could be about to ban Minecraft in the country for being too violent, according to a new report.

 

Turkish websites Hürriyet Daily News and LeaderGamer reveal the country's Family and Social Policies Ministry has finished a month-long investigation into whether the game should still be available in the country. The investigation deemed Minecraft too violent and the ministry has now forwarded its report to the the legal affairs department, with instructions for how the ban will be implemented. Whether or not it comes into force depends on the Turkish courts.

 

"Although the game can be seen as encouraging creativity in children by letting them build houses, farmlands and bridges, mobs [hostile creatures] must be killed in order to protect these structures. In short, the game is based on violence," the report reads.

 

The ministry is reportedly concerned its children may confuse the game world with the real one and start torturing animals. Worries of social isolation or, on the flip side, internet bullying have also been raised. The importance of teaching your children the difference between real and fictional universes is strangely omitted, however.

I feel sorry for Turks now. Can't think of other than children under 6 games that would be less viole t than Minecraft :D

Have you tried removing format? (The 2nd button on top, next to the BBCode thing)

Or have you tried changing font color to automatic?

(Normally I wouldn't complain about this, since I have a script running for it at home, but I'm at school now)

Or by the wasted time crying for the font just change your theme. Lazyness is strong in here.

 

Minecraft is violent? What? It's rated 7+ from pegi and 10+ from esrb. http://metro.co.uk/2013/11/22/the-mums-guide-to-minecraft-everything-you-need-to-know-about-the-worlds-biggest-game-4189492/

 

There isn't even any sign of blood in this game, maybe a dying sound but I rate them harmless compared to other games. Go home turkey you are drunk. Heck I know some kids in this game that play minecraft in their computerclasses.

You can just enable creative mode and bulid what ever you want. Or just turn survival mode to peaceful difficulty and mine as you like with no mobs to fight. This is really quite silly. I don't think they did all that much in there investigation.

You might not like Turkey for what they are doing but if you can't imagine a world without violent games, sexually explicit content and more and being able to survive in it then I don't know what to think.
