Is it okay for males to listen to female singers ?

I think LTT forum is where I can speak freely from my mind and my heart. I just wanted to ask if there is something wrong with males listening to female singers ? I saw a really old post on the AnandTech Forums but most of the replies were just making fun of the question. Like, where I come from it is a very stereotypical society and as a male you are not expected to listen to such songs. Even most of my friends listen to weird type of pop songs or in some weird language that I don't understand (PS : the weird language is one from my country, not english)

 

Some of them like Dua Lipa, Shakira turn my floppy disks into hard drives ! Not only that I find the voice soothing when trying to do work

I am a guy, I listen to several female singers from several genres.

Just to name a few, Karen Carpenter, Ace of Base, Adele, Faith Hill, Carrie Underwood, Shania Twain, Reba Mctire, Laura Story, Mandisa, Rebecca St. James, Twila Paris......

I have more.

If a person is judging you based on what gender of singer you listen to, they're probably someone you should shut out of your life. Listen to whatever floats your rootbeer. My playlist mixes from very filthy dubstep all the way to something like Clair De Lune by Debussy.

 

My personal mantra has always been: It takes effort to judge, and I'm very lazy.

Yes it’s fine. Most of my music is female artists, Miley Cyrus, Bebe Rexha, Zara Larsson, Dua Lipa etc. Fantastic artists. 
 

Just judge music on how it sounds, not who the artist is. No one else is listening to your music, why should anyone else care? (Unless you’re one of those dicks who brings a UE boom on full blast everywhere they go).

do whatever the hell you want when it comes to almost any personal choice as long as it doesn't affect others. IE listen to whatever you want but don't blast that on a speaker

I guess there is some sort of expectation that males should be listening to stuff like heavy metal and what not. I personally like songs with more heartfelt lyrics and from my experience, female singers are able to encode those emotions into their vocals much better than males. So that's what my library is mostly filled with. But there are some exceptions like Backstreet Boys that I do enjoy.
