I trying to build a 13900k with the lowest cost possible. This is the opposite of the most expensive 13900k.

just get a 14700k

it performs very similarly to the 13900k while costing $100 less

this is the lowest I could get it with 2tb of storage and decent cooling and mobo

Budget (including currency): $1000

Country: USA

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Productivity

Other details: I already have a GPU. After doing research, I found no budget 13900k build. Budget 13900k build means cheapest Overclockable MB, Enough ram speed, cooler. Basically, I'm trying to build a PC for future proof at the lowest cost possible. I don't need fancy case, RGB fans/RAMs. Just enough to not bottleneck 13900k + 4070. Thank you.

Future proof, lowest cost possible, 13900k, budget build.

No.

re-assess what you’re trying to do and what budget you have available and put together a balanced system around that

We need an actual number for budget, it'll help us determine what you should be getting.

I put a 14900k in this list cause it wasn't much more for what is basically the same chip but faster.
Also id highly recommend a contact frame if you OC, it's only like $15 from thermalright and helps temps by alot.

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/ygtxqR

i9 with a 4070 isn't the best pairing, id recommend a 4080S/4090 or 7900xtx with that cpu unless whatever games you're playing rely on cpu alot.
For productivity maybe it makes more sense but you haven't told us exactly what you're doing. Just "Productivity" doesn't tell us much.

Overclockable MB

To boot, an overclock wont do much for speed, chips run near enough to their limits nowadays anyway, and secondly good luck taming that furnace if you decide to OC, id say if you did want the 13900K for definite, running it stock is plenty fine

System specs:

CPU: Ryzen 7 7800X3D [-30 PBO all core]

GPU: Sapphire AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT NITRO+ [1050mV, 2.8GHz core, 2.6Ghz mem]

Motherboard: MSI MAG B650 TOMAHAWK WIFI

RAM: G.Skill Trident Z5 NEO RGB 32GB 6000MHz CL32 DDR5

Storage: 2TB SN850X, 1TB SN850 w/ heatsink, 500GB P5 Plus (OS Storage)

Cooler: Thermalright Frost Commander 140

PSU: Corsair RM850e

You don't even need all that CPU to properly feed a RTX4070 (and broken PC ports are broken on every CPU for the most part), the RTX4070.. it's basically a RTX3080 with framegen right?

i7 13700/K based CPU is ample vs the 13900K you want but don't need.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

Even a 12600kf would be plenty for most stuff with thise GPUs and they’re dirt cheap right now.  The advent of e-cores means productivity is pretty damn good on it too.  Also, points for the microcenter bundle deal on it.

I edit the shit out of my posts.  Refresh before you respond.

You want overclocking and a 13900k, you’re spending at minimum $200 on cooling alone, and then a chassis that supports at least a 360mm radiator.

Your mindset is “oh I don’t need all those fancy cosmetic features” thinking that’s what makes a build like this expensive. What makes any build with a 13900k expensive is needing a good motherboard and a really good cooler.

And cutting corners on those things, you won’t be able to overclock beyond just “look it says Z690 in hwinfo” and it’ll thermal throttle itself into the ground constantly.

This is like asking for a cheap, luxury car with off-road capability. It exists, minus the cheap part. And if you want the cheap part, you compromise the other required attributes.

Why do you insist on an i9-13900K? Do you already own it? If so, that information should be shared.

Thanks everyone for your input.

I like this list. Good recommendation on the 14700k. Great AIO cooling & MB.
