I wouldn't be that optimistic, especially after many OEMs have been found to fix/inflate prices. We know that many Chinese companies are about to join in production, but I can't see $0.08 as realistic.

I'm not quite sure if this is only applicable to the certain type of solid-state drive intertrasfer technologies, where there are a number of different elements that can affect manufacturing cost. Like will just the Nand fabrication be cheaper in 2019? and will that be to just the TLC and QLCs or the entire line-up will see a down including low-bandwidth sata 3 drives.

expect minimum capacity to go up and prices to stay the same for the low end. You can currently get a ~120GB SSD for about 25-27$ and a 240-256 for about 35-37, eventually it will be that the 240 will be 25$ (or higher) and it will be the lowest capacity available. 
Remember, the cost per GB goes up in the very low end and the high end. 

We're starting to see 2TB come close to the cost per GB of drives in the "sweet spot" and I hope that continues for even higher capacities in the future. I want to buy less individual SSDs to get a large capacity at a decent price, and I eventually want to move my file server to solid state mostly as well, and if 4TB drives become reasonable cost per GB like we're at with 2TB right now, I might do that soon.

that's about 18 us, wow. 

We're on the 25-27$ for 120-128GB for some brand right now, idk about samsung

I got it from a facebook bss group, mind you, postage was included in the price. And....... I paid $38 for my wd green 120gb ssd from ebay (AUD), so it definitely pays to look around on the used market.

oh used ok that makes sense. Yah at these prices it's stupid to buy a 120GB ssd for anything but a pfsense box or something, which is what my only 120GB will be repurposed for soon. Most of my ssds 240 or 480 range, finally about to buy some TB ones. Prices have been so great lately.

Cheap enough flash and I'll replace my 500 GB boot drive with a 2 TB model, throw that 500 GB in my NAS as a caching drive. Would be sick.

I hope it's sooner rather than later that I can replace all 35 or 40 of my HDDs of various sizes with 8 or 16+TB SSDs, AND, pay less per SSD than I did for the HDDs.  (Largest HDD I have is 10 TB, smallest is 8.4GB.  Best deal I got in the last few years was 2x 5TB for 2x $100 Black Friday 2016.)

 

Also, while I'm okay with them not having super awesome 4K performance (20-30k IOPS would be fine), I would like the sequential write performance to not fall off a cliff after a certain time / amount written per session.  (I want to be able to write the entire drive without slowdowns, of course depending on the source.)

 

Also I need them to have exceptional endurance, for example several petabytes endurance per terabyte capacity at minimum.  I have some mechanical IDE HDDs that are approaching 17-20 years old, some of which still work.  I could see keeping SSDs that long, although by then they'd not be in daily use anymore.

It's probably just the raw NAND chip cost from suppliers, need to add on SSD controller + DRAM + markup.

I hope it provides enough competition to push optane prices down.

 

Edit: I wouldn't mind a 512 GB optane drive for a $129 like the Intel 760p.

Optane is far from dead. It's being implemented in data centers in large scales. It's working it's way to consumers, but as with all technologies, it has a trickle down effect.
