To correct the OP here will be 2 versions, aluminum for $1195 and Titanium for $1595, and those prices DO NOT include taxes and shipping.

 

I can not wait for the to reveal it does not come with a charger that will cost you $250 without taxes and shipping as well. 

The ability to google properly is a skill of its own.

It's is either $1195 or $1595 without taxes and shipping so it's $1500 best case scenario for the cheaper version.

well my state only has 6% sales tax so that would be $1270 for me. which is only $250-$300 more then the top of the line flagship phones.

 

But really it all matters about the specs and usability. It better be the best video taking phone.

I read the doc, it reads like an April Fools joke. Really excessive language, not a lot of actual information, and unrealistic features. It even shifts to the first-person perspective and says "Orders placed today will ship from my own personal first production batch." Whose batch? The CEO? How is it his batch? Why did it suddenly switch to this guy's perspective?

On the product page it has the selection to order but the 'Terms and Conditions' link just goes to the top of the page and the order now button doesn't become active, and it lets you select up to 10 of each.

 

If this isn't a joke, I'm not very happy that they're calling it a "holographic" display. Unless Red is secretly Hogwarts or they employed Tony Stark, we don't have that sort of holography. It's gonna be like the hoverboard of smartphones.

Or maybe I'll be wrong and they'll actually have something impressive, I just don't see how that's possible in this case.

Hmmmm interesting. I'd consider buying this if it has some wicked camera spec, a huge battery, or a dedicated update timeline. However I see it falling short. Look at Marshall's first phone. It did some things incredibly well, and was let down a ton in other areas. I could see this having an insane camera with some wicked attachments, hopefully this knocks that aspect out of the park. Light skin over Android with only a few tweaks and a dedicated team for updates and I'd be pretty happy.

The screen seems gimmicky.

I don't think it'll "fail". It's not like they'll be aiming to sell millions of handsets. It'll likely be a boutique product, just like Vertu and Gresso. Those phones cost several times what this one will, and they're still doing fine, with Vertu selling nothing else to help offset any less-than-breakeven sales.

OnePlus technically wasn't a smartphone maker either then, and their first product wasn't much of a slouch..

Considering RED already has significant experience with cameras, that's one of the hardest aspects nailed (hopefully).

EDIT: my dad has always wanted a smartphone that could take or add better lens to. he has SLR and DSLR cameras but now that phone and point and shoot cameras have gotten so much better he does not feel the need for a DSLR again.

This one will likely have pretty good camera attachments, if they incorporate their camera know how (and really, why wouldn't they?). I could see some crazy attachments coming out, hopefully at launch.

Completely agree, I find it odd that they don't really have much of anything listed yet they expect people to drop huge amounts of money on it. I think they jumped the gun. Support I have no issue with. If they handle it reasonably it won't take that long. Look at Intel. I had a 3 day, including shipping turn around for a CPU RMA. It's not like there will be millions of these units out in the wild.

one plus had a "flagship killer" one plus one was really good, best smartphone in its price range, Sony makes excellent camera but when it comes to smartphone camara, Xperia phones are average. let's hope it lives up to the hype, i am personally waiting for the reviews before i judge it.
