What do people hate about Apple?

my mac has been pissing me off.  Stupid apps prevent it from shutting down.  Last night it wouldn't shut down because of mail...When I click shutdown I expect it to do so in an expeditious fashion. 

 

Throw it through the window, that should greatly help expedite it's shut down process.

I don't hate apple, make's noobs life easier which may potentialy be one of the big factors of problems in our world.

Fortunatly unlike some species ours seem to evolve in an interconncected manner, so the over breeding of noobs is not gonna lead to the movie Idiocracy.

 

Knowledge based chains of parents start giving birth to Understanding based.

Statistics also bakc this up.

 

Basicly Idealists and Realists are on the rise at the expense of comformists/pessimists and optimists.

Once the balance exceeds 50% democracy will be fixed.

No sane person hates Apple.  They make a good product.

 

People hate other people who don't understand they can buy a non-Apple product that is just as good or superior.

I own a 5S and love it. I used Android for a long time but switched. I would never purchase a MacBook or Mac desktop though.

Apple products have exceptional build quality.

 

However, I can produce media on a computer that I've built myself and probably save a thousand or so dollars in the process.

 

Also, iPhones are pretty great as well, but I just prefer Android because customization.

 

 

People usually hate Apple because they don't want to be left out on the Apple-hating-circlejerk bandwagon.

I have been a primarily on linux for about 10 years and feel like apple is a good product.  I mean I have a lean because of the operating system.

But it seems like there is a lot of hate for apple on the channel and I think it seems unwarranted.

I mean I would love it if android was in a different place but I feel like as a complete system Apple has a lot to offer.

 

Also I would love to see a review of the new system76 laptops!

Alot of people, especially enthusiasts don't like apple because the company targets a different kind of consumer. They try to get people who want a seemingly premium product, but don't want to learn any detailed information about their computer. Along with that there is a focus on productivity rather than performance and basic features rather than gaming and performance. So to an experienced computer buyer apples are strictly inferior to similarly priced products in terms of hardware, arguably the "most" important factor to this community.

If Apple invented toilet roll, it would only come in 1 ply, it would cost the same as luxury roll, and do half the job, but would have a pretty little logo which took up even more absorption.

 

People would defend it, those who could see it for what it was would ridicule it.

 

The Emperor's New Clothes springs to mind.

They innovate in wrong and right ways. They go forwards and others companies follow. They also go sideways and backwards. No one wants a thinner phone, everyone wants a bigger battery, everyone wants a headphone jack.

They don't make bad products. It's just that a lot of the DIY community doesn't buy their products because the components are so locked down.

Im going to be honest here. I dont like apple that much i only own one of there products and its an ipod. It serves its purpose. But when it comes down to the bigger products like the laptops and the imacs my school has they suck. Heres an example for you i bought an exteranl hard drive from seagate and for whatever reason it came formatted in NTFS  not that i was expecting it to be different. I go to the schools computer lab with my class and i have to present, the only thing is i couldnt. The apple peice of crap couldnt write to the hard drive so it freaked out on me and wouldnt boot the program. Long story short i failed and all because of apple not supporting a pretty standard format even my exFat wouldnt write. And this is why i dont like them. I would disagree.  I have been working in software for a while and have been given a company MacBook Pro for at least the past 5 years.  Mostly because of the *nix environment and the ease of use for other employees.  This has become a good base OS for people who want to open up a terminal for low level access and people who want nice UI.

 

I think what is being lost is that apple sells a bundle of hardware and software.

Try to re-install the OS on a Mac Mini after it shits itself, or even just replacing the totally standard 2.5" HDD with anything with more than 1 platter. The plastic moulding that holds the drive in place is designed so that only a single platter drive will physically fit, anything thicker and nothing lines up. It takes a hacksaw and a file just to upgrade the drive. They also charge £380 for an 8GB memory kit for it, the exact same modules from the same manufacturer with the same model number cost me £38 at retail cost about 5 years ago.

 

They don't innovate as much as put the latest tech that others have developed into products, knowing they can charge insane prices and they will still have people lining up to buy it at midnight. I suppose in one way they kind of "support" new technology by putting it into products and getting production costs down for others. They have the customers that will pay thousands for low powered laptops that have insane screen resolutions, and that brings the production costs down for others to take advantage.

I think the ltt channel and thier community leans a little more on gaming and macs don't necessarily excel at that. While some will probably appreciate that in this community, most people here don't
