I would sneer at people going RGB with tempered glass for several years before I saw the BeQuiet 500DX and was like "damn, that's a nice case".  I blame the two LED strips down the front making it look similar to a space heater from my childhood.

I wont be moving that around though, its already stupidly heavy and that's before I swap out the 3080 for a 4090 (but at least one will fit).

Router:  Intel N100 (pfSense) + GL.iNet GL-X3000/ Spitz AX WiFi6: Zyxel NWA210AX (1.7Gbit peak at 160Mhz)
WiFi5: Ubiquiti NanoHD OpenWRT (~500Mbit at 80Mhz) Switches: Netgear MS510TXUP, MS510TXPP, GS110EMX
ISPs: Zen Full Fibre 900 (~930Mbit down, 115Mbit up) + Three 5G (~800Mbit down, 115Mbit up)
Upgrading Laptop/Desktop CNVIo WiFi 5 cards to PCIe WiFi6e/7

i blame the Fractal Design Meshify S2 lol saw some systems built in it and was AWSOME...still love it but if/when i replace the case in a few years i will go with a smaller one. i just wish i had splurged on the RGB Fans but was on a budget so went with the solid white MagLev corsair ML140mm white.

I'd been building ITX for years before that but got fed up how hard to it was to keep those builds quiet.

My main Linux box is a Fractal Design Focus G which I turned all the RGB off on except I ran the motherboard cable out the back to power a RGB strip under my desk.  It helps remind me if I left it on as its so quiet when idle.

All my builds are listed in my forum profile.

dang lol yeah my focus is very quiet too except when folding the dual Noctua industrial 140MM 2k rpm i kick up to 1500 to help keep the GPU cool...speaking of which i need to get leela out and up date her before the event she got put in jail as her Seasonic PSU fan failed and Just got the PSU back 3 weeks ago...but haven't had a need for her so haven't hooked her back up to life support...

I could have sold my RX 570 4GB in 2021 and made money compared to what I paid for it brand new in November 2017. Keep in mind that late 2017 was a mining boom, so even on sale I paid over MSRP for that card. I seriously considered selling it, but I decided against it. Now it serves as part of my distributed computing heating system during the winter, and paired with another RX 570 it works to keep my office nice and warm.

I can top that. About 20 Guage Steel shell (maybe thicker, don't have a feeler Guage) covered in thick PVC. P2 era, case weighs about 10-12lbs all by itself.

Argh, that's what worries me about having a tempered glass side panel as they're known to spontaneously shatter.

I clipped the edge on the floor when removing the panel, I was doing it one handed from the back and I didn't react to the weight fast enough.

Honestly it was my fault, this is the first time I have broken a panel.

Honestly guessing at the weight. It could easily be much heavier.

As it turns out: I'm strong than I think I am

30lbs, which means that the whole thing is probably about 40-50lbs with basic components.

http://lyberty.com/tech/sysspecs/dell_xps_d300.html

^look at the lack of tracking info on that link 😄

And based on the wattage sticker on the back and its rated power useage: about 30-40% efficiency 😂

So Scan UK had the PNY 4090 in stock for a short while but not touching that at nearly £220 over FE with the crap 14 power stages.  Seems only FE, ASUS and MSI may have good power delivery, with MSI all overpriced.

Router:  Intel N100 (pfSense) + GL.iNet GL-X3000/ Spitz AX WiFi6: Zyxel NWA210AX (1.7Gbit peak at 160Mhz)
WiFi5: Ubiquiti NanoHD OpenWRT (~500Mbit at 80Mhz) Switches: Netgear MS510TXUP, MS510TXPP, GS110EMX
ISPs: Zen Full Fibre 900 (~930Mbit down, 115Mbit up) + Three 5G (~800Mbit down, 115Mbit up)

I also wouldn't get a pny, and I definitely wouldn't spend more for it over better cards.

Considering the 4090's awful efficiency at high clocks, around 95% of the performance can be achieved for 130 to 150w less power, I don't think extra power stages are going to matter much, if at all.

I believe the 4090's are voltage limited, so extra power stages alone will likely not improve performance. From what I have seen the 4090's perform almost identically to each other, the only tangible difference between the models being noise levels and temperatures.

Maybe the extra power stages might help out a tiny bit when xoc with liquid nitrogen, otherwise I wouldn't worry about it.

Hardware unboxed has compared 4 cards so far, the FE, the gigabyte gaming oc, the Asus tuf, and the colourful vulcan. All of them performed about the same, with the FE model performing the worst by a very small margin.

Maybe I'm overthinking it but I'm thinking longevity, not paying this much if it barely lasts the warranty.  Buildzoid seemed very negative about the design of the Palit for example, though granted "Hardcore Overclocking" is in the name.  I know phases aren't everything, but when it has less than the FE at a higher price, that's suspect, though some are saying ALL AIB cards have less.

I would almost certainly be folding at 50% and gaming at 80% (when needed), at least in the short term.  But its hard to know how the card will age as games push RT more, maybe it will pull more current despite the voltage limit?

More power stages may infer that a component is of higher quality because the manufacturer went to the trouble of adding them, but in reality this might not be the case. Extra power stages are often to as a way to provide cleaner current and not necessarily to supply more power, it's possible for a component to have fewer power stages than another, but the stages are made out of higher quality materials and capable of providing more current.

Nvidia has a minimum board spec, presumably pny meet this.

This EVGA 780 Ti SC does 900K PPD at stock clocks, which is way above LAR Systems's listing of 511K PPD. Strange, but hey, I'm not complaining!

I've put my Blade upside down into my rack and added a little fan to help with the airflow. Helps quite a bit, as the aluminum shell basically acts as a giant heat sink. This should do for November 🙂

(Good that I kept that Cisco switch to wedge the fan inbetween it and the NAS lol)

And for me half a dozen desk fans for the summer. Don't have A/C here. 😃

Stupid fake energy crisis. If they would've let the nuclear power plants running for 10 more years we wouldn't be in this stupid situation.

Back when i signed my current power contract, my power company demanded i would pay a set amount that was quite high for the time because i run lots of systems at my house and use a lot of power.

These days, that set amount is actually quite low, and my power company can't up the price because they demanded it be set to this amount themselves lol.

EDIT: i just checked. the average price per kWh is 0,89 right now, and i'm still paying 0,16
