I got one of the two RX 580s I ordered from eBay in the mail today, and instead of being a normal human and installing it in a spare PCIe slot inside the case of a normal computer I decided to connect it through a PCIe riser to the Dell Precision T3500 that was already handling another 580 along with two Quadros. I'm now up to a total of 28GB of VRAM across 4 graphics cards, and I'm having to use three separate power supplies in order to power everything. The Quadro M4000 is connected through a PCIe riser with a TWO METER USB cable (I don't know how it's working at such a length), and one of the power supplies is being powered on via a paper clip. But hey, at least it works, right?

 

The PPD average is still settling down with the new card, but as of right now FAHControl is estimating around 1.6 million PPD. At this point I am out of PCIe slots entirely, so this machine won't be getting any more GPUs added to it. And yes, I do realize how inefficient this machine is in terms of PPD/watt. During the winter months I use the heat from these less practical systems, so the extra energy being used to power them isn't just being wasted. Plus it's a fun project - who doesn't want their computer to require three power supplies and have multiple cables running in and out through the side panel?

I'm at 2.4k and my 3070 isn't going back into folding for a few weeks. You'll more than likely over take me.

Well, I've been folding on a 3080 for the past month or so, but I might have to pull that card out at any point now. I wasn't supposed to have it for this long (originally I was supposed to have it for a week), but life things have been going on and the owner of this 3080 has been making do with my 1080 for right now. They've been very busy lately and haven't had the time to have me come swap them back out yet, so for now it's folding. 

 

What I'm trying to say is that I don't know how long I'll be able to maintain my current PPD level. With my normal hardware I don't get anywhere near as many points as I have been lately.

Mine will jump back up a bit. I don't know what your normal is, but you can see where I shut the 3070 off. I also don't have my M4000s going right now, so that will add another 1.2m ppd when I get back in town in a few days and get that machine put back together. That 8.5m is my average anymore with everything running.

I honestly don't know what my normal average would be without the 3080. Since I started using the 3080 I've added multiple other cards to my folding machines. Right before I started using the 3080 I was getting between 3 to 4 million PPD depending on how many cards I had going. At that time it was still very hot here, and when it's hot out I simply can't run all of my cards all the time. I've also got to consider that I won't just be losing all the points from the 3080 once it's gone. I'll be replacing it with the GTX 1080 that I own, and that's still a fairly decent folding card. 

 

I don't think I'll be anywhere near 8.5m PPD though once I'm back to all of my usual cards. Maybe once I buy a 30 series card for myself, but until then I'll be getting lower numbers.

Depending on how you set that 1080, you should be around 1.5m ppd on it. Off the top of my head, I *THINK* I get right around 1.2-14 on stock settings on each of mine. 

I do have some 390s coming and a pair of R9 furys coming. If I can get them fixed, I might look at getting something Ampere to try to fix for a cheap additional card. I'm starting to mess with component repair anyways, so might as well try it. 

You can find 3080tis in various stages of broken for under $350. 2080tis for right around $250.
