I'll be mostly playing 1080p at low ish settigns Basically you use DSR to output to process at higher resolution and then DLSS to render less of it. I wonder if this is even possible lol. So that you render at 4K using DSR to 1080p and then save compute power by using DLSS at 4K which is natively rendered at 1080p or 1440p. Lol, what a mess. And I don't think you can use DLSS and DSR at the same time.

Posted September 16, 2020 My thoughts? Not worth getting unless you are playing at 4k. Even as high as 1440p, ALL current CPUs on average bottleneck the 308. Seems from most outlets reporting, the performance uplift from 2080ti is around 20% at 1440p and 30% at 4k, giving 4k a massive 50% gain in performance delta by going up a resolution. This isn't even considering the 3090, whose bottlenecking will be even MORE apparent. Might be worth it for 1440p users if they want quiet operation and a future CPU upgrade, though. Most 1440p users should wait for the 3070, Big Navi, or a cheap second hand 2080ti, because even if you have a fancy 240hz 1440p display, your CPU is too slow to power it. I need to upgrade my 1080p monitor to a 1440p monitor in order to essentially remove the bottleneck, right? (However I will be using my 1080p monitor until I have the money for a 1440p and regardless of bottleneck, its still going to be a huge upgrade from a 1060 6gb) You can still game at 1440p using your current 1080p monitor using nVidia DSR. I do that too and I play GTAV at 1440p on my 1080p monitor and GTA4 at 2160p. Posted September 16, 2020 Now I'm a bit worried. I'd go with RTX 3080, but being on several generations old CPU, despite being very capable and overclocked hexa core, I don't think I'll be seeing the same uplift. Especially since I'm running stuff at 1080p. Might wait, grab Ryzen 4800X and then go with some better gfx later on. Or just grab RTX 3080 now and grab Ryzen 4800X later... Posted September 16, 2020 I feel that when a "Ti" variant comes out, we're still going to get stuffed on the pricing here. It'll no doubt be close to €/$/£1K 1080Ti was about 6-700, which is what we pay for 3080 now. It will only seem reasonable because we were so effing scammed by the price of the 2080Ti. I am kinda disappointed that there's no DP2.0 as well. By the time a Ti level card comes out, there will be 4k monitors with DP2.0, capable of over 120hz so the HDMI standard will not be enough to play in 4K at the frame rates that card will be capable of. If you don't play AAA games and want to play in 4K at over 120hz, its still no good for you.
 This, saw the benchmarks only 10-15 more fps in 4k compared to the 2080ti. Only worth it for 1440p. Bit underwhelming tbh. Posted September 16, 2020 as expected, this is only going to be an upgrade for 4K gaming performance. Some people are going to cry that CPU bottleneck is the cause for 1080p and 1440p performance stagnation, but we're kind of at a dead end for IPC gains on CPU's for gaming - despite Intel and AMD claims of IPC gains each generation, these aren't Gaming IPC improvements FYI (Sorry, no Nvidia fine wine at 1080p). For 4K gaming this is where the 3080 shines. If you're gaming at 1080p or 1440p, look elsewhere. If you're gaming at 4K, that 10GB frame buffer is worrying for longevity. Nvidia definitely priced the card appropriately this time. Posted September 16, 2020 Seems like Nvidias benchmarks were pretty spot on, or very slightly exaggerated (around 80% better than the RTX 2080). It's just that all their benchmarks were for 4K and we don't see as big improvements at lower resolutions.
