3080 benchmarks are in! Are they good?

Helpful Tech Witch

Summary

Jayz (who posed 2 mins early) found that the 3080 scores 18125 on time spy, with the 2080 ti at 14558, and a stock 2080 at 11060. Gaming has a Battle Field 5, 4k, rtx on leaves you with 61fps, the 2080 ti at 52 fps, and the vanilla 2080 has a sad 35 fps.

My thoughts

NVIDIA over exaggerated the 3080, but it does get about 80% more performance than the 2080 Zotac, I guess that this is a insane upgrade over last gen.

Of course it isn't 2x 2080, but it's still an incredible upgrade. This more than I expected for performance, and I am definitely going to get this card!

They do every time. Hence why I tell people Wait for the goddamn benchmarks.

Now people may or may not get appropriately hyped for these cards.

Assuming that nvidia was overexaggerating the performance of the 3080, could be safe to assume that would also be true for the 3070, but guess why have to wait and see...

Okay so I have a 8700k and I want to buy a 3080.
I need to upgrade my 1080p monitor to a 1440p monitor in order to essentially remove the bottleneck, right?
(However I will be using my 1080p monitor until I have the money for a 1440p and regardless of bottleneck, its still going to be a huge upgrade from a 1060 6gb)

Seeing the hype for an insanely expensive card.

MSRP 699$ (yeah, right)

Not being a gamer: Priceless.

Nvidia claimed "up to" 2x the performance of the 2080, and Nvidia's presentation showed that it gets "up to" 2x the performance range of the 2080 and not that it gets 2x the performance in all applications.

And Digital Foundry's pre-release % comparison showed that the 3080 gets around an 80% performance increase over the 2080 in rasterization. So, I think the result is pretty spot-on.

4k 144hz monitors are too expensive where I live so I have to go 1440p or I'll go bankrupt.

.

they set the bar too high, but good news is only a 1% pci-e bottleneck, the advertise gains are only for 4k, looks like the gains are cut in half for 1440p.

looks like it's 20-25% over a 2080 ti at 4k, and above 15%~ at 1440p

I'm ready for a 3070 bomb and a 3090 surprise (?)

it's also extremely power limited at 375w, get a AIB model with 3 8pins.

That said, i think we have our first true 4k gpu. RDR2 at 90/70 1% lows is good.

Best price/performance on the market despite being a 700usd card, though expect the 3070 to take that crown.
