FFS... the PPD on the 2060 is creeping up to the point where the 1060 in the same case has been compensated for and was apparently a waste of electricity in summer ambient temps to fold...

I'm kinda missing tossing rigs in rooms that are like 16c or less in the winter.

And that my friend, is the joys of the summer folding sprint!

Looks like I've settled in as far up as I'm going to get. 29 isn't bad for my first sprint. :) Now to get the money put aside for the next rig.

Man don't say that!

I'm holding at 32nd and this IS the rig I just spent all my monies on😭!

lol

But maybe depending on what Nvidia releases later this year and if price per performance difference is ideal maybe I'll upgrade from the 2070S I just bought. (And go figure the 3900X I purchased less than a month ago already has a successor)

I'm just hoping that everyone has had a bad day today waiting for WU's and then getting low PPD ones or I'm going to be dropping in rank today. ☹️

It's good to stay competitive, but remember to wish lower PPD/stuck WU's upon folders benefits no one, and only hurts medical researchers.

I didn't say "stuck" WU's I said waiting for them ie. idle GPU waiting to be assgined work.

I know a few of you stated you were getting significantly less PPD with certain WU's, but how many are having their GPU's just sitting idle and twiddling their 3d virtual thumbs today while waiting for a WU to eventually reveal itself to the world?

.....and I was finally starting to have fairly consistent numbers hourly too

I saw some idle, then fired up the babysitter python script to keep kicking them.

Also... if you're not seeing any WU try changing settings int he client.  I run the following.

next-unit-percentage is when you ask for the next work unit, I have mine set to 98. That means when you get to 98% done you request the next WU hoping to have a new Wu ready to go as soon as you finish the last one.

I think max-packet-size does not work anymore but I could be wrong.

Thanks!

I actually just looked it up after your reply and F@H shows these options on their website, but the Max packet size isn't listed so maybe like you said it isn't supported anymore.

And apparently it pays to set your next-unit-percentage correctly as the time to complete bonus starts as soon as the WU is downloaded. So if you download the next unit too early, then you can cost yourself bonus points.

That's right. 98% seems to be the sweet spot for me, new WU normally are only waiting around for 3-4 mins. It all depends on how fast your GPU is.

Well when it comes to my Laptop.....not fast at all lmfao

10+ minutes to do half a percent!! But it wasn't getting any bonuses anyways.

Also, I set it to 98% for only the GPU, I left the CPU alone and decided to not change that option for the global settings.

@GrockleTD, if you install that extension and leave you web browser open while folding, scroll to the bottom and enable "No Sleep Mode" and that will allow the extension to do it's thing and collect data on your GPU so it can be entered into @LAR_Systemsdatabase so he and all of us can get a clearer picture on what kind of PPD we can expect on different GPU's, WU's, OS's etc.

So far it's the best DB i've come across because it's an active system, and not a passive like all the others.

Not to mention I love the dark theme, and Orange is my favorite color!
