What capture card, what phone, what USB to HDMI adapter and what USB Type A to USB Type C adapter? Chances are one piece in the chain doesn't support the functionality needed to talk with the others.

Aha, this is backwards. That does HDMI -> USB, you are wanting a USB -> HDMI. They aren't bidirectional adapters.

As @Needfuldoer noted, your phone may not support USB display out to begin with. Although iPhones/iPads have been capable of USB to HDMI for a while, and they also only used USB 2.0 up until quite recently. Would have to see if anyone else has done display out with that phone, or ask OnePlus themselves and see if they can give you a hard yes or no on support.

Yep, ask them if it supports USB to HDMI to begin with. If it does, then order a new USB to HDMI adapter (make sure it is indeed USB -> HDMI, not HDMI -> USB like the one you currently have).

No, that's correct, it's a C to HDMI adapter

But yeah, few phones actually support DP alt mode, almost certain this one doesn't.

You can likely use apps that send the feed over the network, you'll have latency though.
