Do you guys get a good feeling when helping someone with tech issues?

I just helped my friend who was getting low fps and didn't know how to change his monitors refresh rate and resolution, and after it I feel like a good feeling. do you guys get that too?

I think just helping people in general makes most people feel good. It at least makes me feel good.

That's a legit sociopathic line of thought. Normal people find happiness in helping others, if you don't experience it, you may want to seek counseling.

Yes, in fact that's the main reason I enjoy hanging out in online forums - helping people realize the full potential of whatever it is they're trying to accomplish is one of my favorite things to do both for fun and professionally. That being said, it irks me to no end when someone asks for help, but then straight up refuses to take my advice because they're too stubborn, cheap, or short-sighted to realize why I'm recommending XYZ... (Totally realize there are multiple ways to communicate the benefits of something, but if they still refuse to understand the advice after that, they're on their own.)

Having helped someone makes me feel better but it has nothing to do with an ego boost. People have helped me so I like to pay it forward.

Don't sell yourself short. No matter who you are, there will always be someway you can help someone, even if it's only to give someone the time of day when they ask, pick up something that someone dropped, let someone in line behind you at the grocery store who has one item get ahead of you when you have a full cart, etc.

Many studies show that helping others out results in the brain releasing dopamine, serotonin and  oxytocin.    We actually get a high from helping others and this results in better physical and mental health.

Absolutely, it gives me an endorphine rush or something, I feel awesome after having done something for someone especially tech related. Building someone's computer for them, and watching it post for the first time, and then showing them. gives me an enormous sense of pride and satisfaction.

 I can answer that, 50% NO! Everyone is so cheap but yet they want you to fix everything that is the least important instead fixing the things that can do potential harm.

The only truly satisfying feeling I get when helping someone is when they learn from the experience as well, rather than just want someone to push the right button for them. Helping people who don't want to learn or want to be spoon-fed all the time with tech problems gets old really fast

I generally enjoy helping people in any way that I can.  I was lucky enough to have a lot of people share a lot of knowledge with me about many skills/trades throughout the years, and have lived with extreme poverty to nowadays a very comfortable middle class life.

      Any time one can use their knowledge or ability to help another without causing undue stress on themselves, it should be a no-brainer.  Good feelings aside, its the right thing to do and Karma is a Mot*********

Volunteered at a local theatre a few times as backstage crew (Stagehand being a slightly fancier term). There were definitely times where I thought between my job, home life, and hobby, I was in over my head. Listening to the crowd laugh made this worthwhile though.

There's a whoooole ton of systematic fraud and exploitation of customers in the automotive repair industry that has shaped the minds of just about every car owner.

 

You simply can't trust a car mechanic, and I guess it ruins it for the few honest ones out there. Hope you're one of them.
