Don't lump me in with them. I'm an enthusiast of mechanic design, be it engines, weaponry, or productive machinery. Not a guy with a wrench that reads the marketing garbage AFE/insert other "enthusiast" brand that can't legally warranty half of their products.

I fail to see a correlation between people screeching variations of "forced induction is more efficient!!! Reclaimed energy!!!" and anything I've said.

If you can't be civil. Please leave

Edit. That goes for everyone in the thread

you can find slightly beat 4runners for 5k.

I still don’t really have that cash to spare. I would like a Land Crusier (or a 4Runner) but I can’t afford the fuel economy of one currently. It’s why even though I’d like a Crown Victoria, I won’t get one right now.

Just lower the Hilux then you have a sports car. Unfortunately it then also becomes a classic.

I get 5.2l/100km or whatnot on the highway (in traffic around 8. ) Only 1 more than my Peugeot, and the LC I use is the v8.

AC is dirt easy to run. A R9 290 could run it well enough to use a Freesync monitor at max settings; PC2 on that card, I struggled with medium settings at 1080p (PC1 was easy to run at 60fps at medium settings with the same card). Upgraded to a GTX 1080 and it runs AC at 100+ fps at max settings, PC2 comfortably at 60+ at 1440p high settings. Plenty to drive a windows mixed reality headset on both.

FWIW the 1080 also handles ACC fairly well, around the same as PC2 but it is not a full release title yet.

Is it that intensive because of the freesync because PC2 really didn't seem that hard to run from what I've seen. I was thinking of using a xeon haswell i7 equivalent with a 970 at 1080p no freesync.

PC2 is a lot more optimized than PC1. I should mention I was running two cards for PC1 at one time.

My tastes are... bizarre, to put it charitably. I freaked out over an Isuzu Oasis on the previous page, which should tell you how bizarre.

Those cars are great for stripping down into autocross monsters for this reason: shitty interior isn't a problem when you yank everything out and put a cage in!

Didnt get any pics but Friday I changed my sisters brake pads and rotors out. We had to stop at Autozone to get brake cleaner and FastOrange, and then again to get the caliper piston spreader tool because the Hyundai Elentra has the "screw style piston" where you have to twist it as you press it in. But holy shit I wish I had pics, her front right rotor was beyond gone, there was a very visible difference in thickness between the right and left rotor disks and the pads were basically flat.

This was good experience for when I do mine in 20k miles and want to repaint the calipers.

So my hatred of having anyone else touch my cars has been re-enforced yet again.

right hand rear quarter right where it meets the rear bumper cover:

20190527-171904.jpg

It looks like when the new rear bumper cover was put on about 15 months ago, they installed it directly up against the right hand rear quarter, well after ~15mo of slowly vibrating around, it's kicked the paint off the rear quarter. Fuck me.

The place that did the bumper replacement has a lifetime warranty on their work, so I'm going to call them tomorrow and see what they say.

I absolutely HATE it when other people touch my cars. Hate hate hate hate hate.

EDIT: I called the shop that put the bumper cover on, the guy I talked to seemed to think it would be no problem getting it fixed under their warranty. So I'm cautiously optimistic, they haven't actually looked at the car yet though.
