Don't lump me in with them. I'm an enthusiast of mechanic design, be it engines, weaponry, or productive machinery. Not a guy with a wrench that reads the marketing garbage AFE/insert other "enthusiast" brand that can't legally warranty half of their products.

I fail to see a correlation between people screeching variations of "forced induction is more efficient!!! Reclaimed energy!!!" and anything I've said.

Edit. That goes for everyone in the thread

The oil filter was nice and easy to remove and put on.

The downside is that it pukes its guts on the ac compressor below.

That's fun, for me it's all over a cross-member and skid plate. Guess who isn't cleaning that.

Well gents (and lady) Todays finally the goddamn day i (hopefully) finish getting the downpipe, blow off valve and tuner in the FoST. It's been two months because my mechanic friend and me have had to find merging schedules (In fact I had to take vacation time to get it to work) but hopefully in six hours from now it will all be worth it!

No he doesn't have inspections or emissions testing where he lives. Neither do I. In fact, all of Oregon doesn't have emissions or inspections except Portland.

Wrong. I have inspections, just not emissions testing. They don't look at anything tho lol. Everytime I go they just put a new sticker on the car lol

and like maybe check lights, wipers, and the horn... that's it

but even an inspection doesn't require looking at the ecu so it's fine. I think west Baton Rouge is the only area that requires emissions testing in the state. And it's been that way since like forever

They should totally do this everywhere. Right next to the speed limit signs

ok, it's actually quite the opposite here. they always enforce emissions testing, but i haven't seen any notices for any inspections lol. that probably explains why i see some cars on the road with rear ends completely smashed in and no mirrors and big dents and actually bent wheels in one case.

Here on backroads (2 lane roads, you should of said 4 lane but I knew what you meant) you'll drive the speed limit or a bit over minding your own business but then someone will come from behind you at like 80mph and pass you

happens all the time lol

Worst one was the 3.0 ranger on a 4x4.... oil got everywhere. Later models put a plastic drain to help with that. Didn't help much because you still gotta tip the filter sideways to get it out. So it just dumped everywhere anyway.

I really hate that motor with a passion. Was pretty much decided when one almost caused me to fail engine quarter.

Ford really did a stupid with the oil filter location on the 3.5L, and the drain plug while I think of it. Let's have both be 90* to the side and spewing everywhere!

I really despise the inconsistent (read: legitimately crappy) drivers that will drop to 20 mph to take a turn, still go over lines because they're terrible at controlling their car, but stomp the gas on first chance and jump to 50-60 mph(usually, where there is a passing lane).

On 3800 series 3 engines GM was actually pretty decent about how its mounted.

On the series 2 however. Which is what i've got in my car.

I don't get how someone can look at that and go "Yeah that's fine"

yeah ford with their 2.5 (the engine in my van is a ford in case you didn't know) had a terrible design where the drain plug was shoved way up in between the motor and the firewall next to the filter, and like it still manages to spew hot oil over hot exhaust headers, terrible design.

I looked up a video on how to do one on the 3.5, doesn't look bad. What is bad however is this comments section. I swear, if someone I was training said that the reason why they removed the oil cap before draining was to help the oil drain by allowing air to flow I'd have them pack up their tools and leave.

Mine's sideways, spews next to the tire.

Yeah but it's sideways and you can't even see it while you're taking it out. You have to reach your arm up to yank it off, and then oil spills out everywhere. And I let it drain for a good 40 minutes while I was trying to take the driveshaft off and oil still came spewing out the side where the filter was.
