Guess what, when the base idea of your multiplayer only early access game can be summarized in one sentence or less, other developers are boud to try something similar eventually. Especially with all the success they've had. What are you going to do, claim copyright on the "people look for weapons and the last man standing wins" idea? If that's all it takes for a game to be considered infringing on PUBG's trademark, ID Software could have sued and won against every single FPS game ever made, PUBG included. "Players shoot each other/AI enemies from a first person perspective" - I would argue it's a deeper core idea than what PUBG is claiming here.

The gameplay isn't the issue, it's that Epic Games who are the creators of Unreal Engine 4 (the engine PUBG runs on) created their own battle royale game and supposedly implied that the PUBG devs were working with them on. Epic Games had been helping the PUBG devs with engine issues previously.

As I understand it, PUBG (and presumably the other BR games) have no respawning.  If you die, you're dead for that match.

This sounds so dumb, made me lose interest in pubg even, it's like if VALVe wanted to sue Crytek based on Crysis world being too similar to Half-Life world... we'd never have new games this way.

Fortnite is a great game but this mode is obviously a grab at PUBG players who hate the PUBG lack of optimization. 

perhaps before PUBG but I'm not sure h1z1 came out before the Arma battle royale mod which are the same guys.

We can trace back even further to the birth of the MOBA. It was a popular custom game on Warcraft 3.

That's what I said lol. DotA 2 was a rip-off of the DotA WC3 map. The DotA WC3 map was a clone of the Aeon of Strife WC3 map. And the AoS WC3 map was a clone of the AoS StarCraft Brood war map from like 1999.

I always thought that WC3 was the first iteration. I didn't know it came from StarCraft.
