What tech are y'all buying/upgrading this year?

dizmo

A R7 1700x, X370 motherboard, either another R9 Fury or Vega, a full custom hard line water loop, an NVMe drive, DDR4 ram, a mechanical keyboard, a gaming mouse, a 144Hz 1080p monitor, and maybe a 1440p monitor.

I'm basically selling my computer (which is worth around $1260 in parts, so I could probably get a fair bit more than that), adding a paycheck, they building a complete new setup.

I still haven't found a case I like. The In Win Tòu 2.0 would be my case of choice, but its $8000 so...

I bought a 92mm OEM Asetek Cooler for my HP secondary PC. I'll be window modding it at some point, and this summer its getting a motherboard upgrade.

I want to buy a reference 660 Ti for it though.

I haven't seen a HP desktop that has a black interior like that. I love the modding you've done. I have seen plenty that are normal machine steel inside. Did you spray paint or is it a special model?

Going from my two 980Tis in the main rig to a 1080Ti.  Plan to get second 1080Ti later, since I like to always have my 2nd card fold or boinc while doing things on my PC.

Nice! That'll be some solid performance, and you should be able to recoup most of the cost of the 1080Ti when you sell the 980Ti.

I'll probably be getting a Deepcool Captain 240 AIO for my FX 6300 build. Along with a 1920x1080 display that has about a 3-5 ms response time (lower than that and it gets too expensive). As well as a G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 16GB DDR3 1600Mhz kit, which should total up to about $400.00.

It's more important to look at some TFTCentral reviews when choosing a monitor. Response times given by companies often aren't accurate, as they don't account for input lag.

The RX 480 isn't that much more in most places, might be worth looking into?

The conditioner is mostly to eliminate ground loops and to prevent losing my gear in the case of an electrical storm (quite common around here), the ones by GR Savage are particularly well built.

The hospital grade outlets serve just a single purpose in this particular case, ensuring i have US plugs directly to the wall instead of using the standard euro plug with an adapter. It has to be hospital grade by Hubbell because its the only ones i can find.

I'm hoping to maybe build a new PC this year. Most of my parts are 7 years old right now.... Ryzen looks quite attractive to me right now.

Waiting a bit to see if maybe, just maybe, the CAD will rise up a little by the end of the year... Doubt it though. But at least it gives me plenty of time to save up some money until black friday/boxing day. You don't go far with only $2000 in Canadian rupees these days. Especially when you need a new monitor because your current one is going to shit and you want something more than just a 1080p TN monitor. Any slightly decent 1440p/4k monitors start at $500 with the better ones, high refresh rate IPS monitors being above $1k...

I can easily sell the computer for more than it's part's retail for, same way any company or PC builder sells their computers. PC Part Picker tells me that its worth $1260 in parts so I figure I can reasonably get around $1400 for it on eBay. Plenty of people on eBay who either don't want to or don't know how to build a PC and they'll pay a bit of a premium to have it all ready to go the second it comes in the mail.

The NVMe drive will either be my boot volume or a cache, but I'm thinking I maaaay just go for a regular SATA III SSD for my main storage so probably just my boot drive. OR maybe I'll go for Optane as my boot drive. Not sure yet.

Yez, the 2015 axon elite with the s810. Got it new for 190$. Apart from the poor community rom support, it's a good phone. People really exaggerated the issues linked to s810 imo.
