  1. UK: Forces E10 for all "standard" petrol...

    Before:

    "Branded" E5 95RON - 42MPG

    Supermarket E5 95RON - 41MPG

    After:

    "Branded" E10 95RON - 38.5MPG

    Supermarket E10 95RON - 29MPG

I see no issues at all...like I deffo don't see any issues with the final value...

Oh it doesn't help how petrol is currently £1.35/L (that's $7.08/USG). My wallet is not happy...

  2. MSI...MSI...MSI...

Just realised I never posted about this but what is up with GPU manufacturers making backplates out of plastic? For looks fair enough but to then use thermal pads because there are heat generating components on the back and you're trying to dissipate it with plastic is just dumb. Imagine dropping the RGB nonesense and actually going back to making the backplates out of metal...maybe that'll help the cooling...

If its anything below a 3090, the backplate serves no real function as there are no heat generating components on the back and the thermal pads really aren't doing anything beyond looking pretty and maybe soaking a few watts that soaks through the PCB to it.

Which implies that the company is doing 3090s on that same assembly line.

  3. Which joke present...🤔

    image.png.68decc3e56cd6e417d9dd479e2c47b48.png

Friend has necklace with a key pendant on it. Bit of an inside joke where I constantly inquire who's heart they've locked up.

Fren's favourite immature phrase: "deez nuts"

Oh, their actual IRL name also pops up in the book, which makes it even better.

Do note that I have gotten em a proper present but it's basically a yearly tradition where we get em a joke present and a "real" present. Mind you, if I get a proper lock pendant with a necklace chain, both the book and that could be a "real" present so maybe I should just hang tight and save these ideas for Christmas/next year.

I know, LPL will probably just rake it once and it's open but nah, that's not the point. Literally getting it as a joke and it's about as cheap as those "fake" locks (i.e. one without a real key) so might as well get that.

God damn, I really did have a stupid amount of expensive CSGO skins back in the days...

Dopplers, marble dopplers, a FN ST Jaguar, multiple BFKs, FN lightning ect. (there are maybe another $100+ skins [value these days, not back then tho] but CBA going through my inventory history anymore)

If only I held onto them...would have tripled in value 😞

Mind you, I did also previously own a grand total of just a little under 25 ETH, which I sold between $12 and 20/ETH...nobody said I didn't make major mistakes....

The thing is, the 23.5~ ETH I mined in 2016 was extremely sketchy so I sold it, which I can kinda justify as ether was like just about a year old and it was less than stable. Then in 2018, I managed to mine like 1.1~ ether, which was worth like $600, which again, made sense to sell at the time, especially as the price was tanking hard at the time. Of course, it would have been worth so much more now but hey ho, welcome to hindsight, which we never have at the time.

  5. Hmmmmm, tried to install my RX6800 into my NR200 today. Might have made a massive oversight.

First hint of trouble, my Fury on-top of the RX6800 with an Alphacool block

    Spoiler

    DSC_0612.thumb.JPG.626f46f3ece2cf6a2cadea8a8e9efdac.JPG

    That's not a good start...the RX6800 is 50% longer and about 15% wider...shiet

    *Insert Godverdomme*

    Spoiler

    DSC_0613.thumb.JPG.ff84e4052db67203694cfcf841b8ee03.JPG

Defintely not wider than the case...

And no, vertically doesn't exactly fit either as the block touches the top panel and does slightly push against it, leaving no space for nice runs.

On the bright-side, there's nothing a few angled fittings, another TX240 and either a top-hat for the NR200 or the side-panel extension clips won't fix...🤦‍♂️

  7. Look maw, a new GPU that I deffo didn't manage to get for more or less MSRP! (£70 above AMD'S "MSRP" but as it's an AIB, it's probably safe to say it's basically MSRP)
  8. DSC_0605.JPG

Got this boi for effectively MSRP here in the UK (MSRP was £579, given this isn't reference, probably would have been £630-ish MSRP) so can't complain? Now I just need my block to arrive and I'll be able to slap it into my NR200P build 😄

I haven't booted windows or run an overclock on Northern Bee since like January 2019 but maybe I'll have to just to win again 😛

  9. Might be able to get a reference RX 6800 for £650 and a MSI RX 6800 for £650 as well! How did I not check Gumtree before eBay? The pricing is sooooooooooo much better 😳

Buy both and flip one for a hefty profit on eBay?

With my experience on the new eBay prices for sellers, I actually like this new system better. PayPal doesn't cause problems cos they're not involved and eBay themselves said in an email with their updated pricing most sellers will pay the same amount in fees or less.

Easy ways to pay less for delivery besides passing the cost on to buyers is choosing eBay's cheaper delivery.

I don't care what they say. The math says it goes up for me and math is one of the only trustworthy in this world.

Ebay isn't better then paypal. There where early reports where a "sí" as only input on a complain got decided in favor for the buyer by ebay.

The paclink prices I see aren't great. Doing it yourself results in lower rates.

But they removed my bi-monthly £1 max final value fee promotions 😞

Or pack it in a way to get it into a lighter category...for example I post a lot with RM (my experience is cheapest that is still reliable, especially delivery time, minus covid issues) as I can get most things under the 1KG limit, which makes it as cheap as say Hermes whilst the box has never ended up with a massive hole in it (Hermes, Yodel, stop drop kicking my parcels!)

  10. Hmmmm, I am very, very, very tempted to get a RX 6800 and start mining with it. Why you ask? Kill two birds with one stone, the two birds being better computer performance (come on, I'm still using a 6 year old Fury...) and heating my room without having to directly pay for it. With temps dropping sub-10C already, I need to start putting on heating and given I don't get gas here, I'm going to have to burn electricity no matter what so at least with mining, I'm able to heat my room whilst it pays the electricity by itself.

Yep, even my 6 year old Fury can actually mine enough to pay for the electricity (full rig, not just the GPU itself) plus a little on top. Thankfully, I can still mine ravencoins with KAPOW with my Fury so I guess I shall be using this for now to give supplemental heat to my room (whilst not having to pay for it) 🙂

Oh, just to say, my Fury still has her full-cover WB slapped on and underload still sits sub-55C. Mind you, if I also started mining with my 3700X (there is like two algos that work kinda well with CPUs), that would definitely not work well at all as it would saturate my waterloop fastttttttt, making it either sound like a rocket or temps climbing fast.

All I'll say is good luck finding one that doesn't cost £700 or more if they're even in stock at all cos AMD is de-prioritising the not major ripoff Navi 21 silicon.

    3. Moonzy

      Moonzy

I mean, if you can get your hands on a reasonably priced GPU, go for it

The sooner you get the current gen cards, the more profit you'll make before it gets obsolete

That said, even 1060 6gb is still good for mining, so I guess the timeframe is kind of huge

Until ETH moves to PoS I guess, which idk when it'll happen, but there are other coins so

Most likely. Funnily enough, the Fury does literally run 10C cooler tho, then again, the Barrow block I have on the 3700x was literally £27 😆

Playing with fire right there. Possibly literally 😛.

  12. The thing is, the R9 290(X) is arguably a somewhat special case. This is very anecdotal but Hawaii was notorious for randomly artifacting/dying or the too well known issue of black-screening (was mostly caused by PSU wire gauge not being thick enough for those with 8+6/8+8), especially ones that were reference blower cooler and/or board. I mean my first (powercolor) 290X with reference cooler artifacted the second I installed it (had it RMAed).

I once got cross shipped one incorrect lens instead of the two I ordered. At least the seller was good for it...

  14. Me: Sells my Sony FE 35 1.8 lens cause I don't use it since getting my 16-35 2.8 Also... "Tell me you have impulse buying issues without telling me" Panny 20 1.7 for £65 , whilst I don't even own a MFT body, hold that thought... MPB offered me a price similar to eBay for my 35 1.8 without any seller fees plus I was able to whip out my student discount (and another discount code I have...), and both the body and ultrazoom lens was wayyyyyyyy cheaper than eBay and that's without the discounts, mind you so with the discounts...
  15. Wait, so you're telling me I can farm obtain my final 29 rep here? Guess my journey of farming 1K rep from just statuses/status replies is almost complete!
