holy mother of god, those prices

if you live anywhere outside US and want one of these cards .. good luck, mate - for a card that replaces the GTX980, those are some GTX980Ti range prices -_-

I wonder how far will they go with the GTX1080Ti and the next Titan

yes, I completely get that the GTX1080 is faster than GTX980Ti, that's not the point - the point is that it's marketed as GTX980 replacement

---

after seeing some more info on the GTX1080, I don't get what's the point behind this card

  • the cooling solution is completely inadequate
  • it has a power limit of 180W + 20% offset (via EVGA Precision software)

you get it because of a tight space case? that's completely fine

but what about the rest? you'd get one to put a water block on it an OCit? you might wanna think again:

once you get rid of the thermal problem you'd be facing the power limiter - this card needs more than the 8pin PCIe power connector for serious and consistent OCing

I suspect AIB cards with custom cooling solution will provide all of the above

from my understanding, and this hasn't been confirmed or denied by nVidia - it seems that AIB partners will launch their cards alongside the "founders edition"

Yes the announced the US$ price. What they never announced was the ~40% markup they are putting on all of their overseas prices.

GB£619 = US$897

EU€789 = US$894

RU55.000 = US$850.

So there is a US$150-200 mark up everywhere outside of US.

and those prices are still only estimates, the 980 ti was still a good 900$ last month in denmark.

Ah. In the UK we can pick up 980TI's for GB£500. So ~US$700. A lot more reasonable than these 1080 prices.

7700sek, are you kidding me? thats insaine. just straight up. you can get 3 970 for that lol(but who would) this is just silly pricing tbh.

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

GTX 1080 - $999 CAD

Just gonna wait for mainstream gpus... I'll probably get another 390 if i need more power. Those prices are ludicrous.

€789, that just pisses me off. The 980 ti was slightly cheaper than that at launch. Several months ago (so before gtx 1080 announcements) 980 ti cards sold for €650 for the cheap ones and €700-€750 for the better ones and with the 1080 (as a 980 replacement) to be €789? The heck, just WTF.

We in the GCC always get shafted with gpu prices. Just buy it from amazon it will be cheaper that way. It seems too low too i think it would be 3000+. In KSA, they were selling Titan x at release for approx 1500usd.

It has to ship internationally however, not all cards do that.
