U'd better sit down for this - suggested retail prices for the GTX1080 "founders edition"

Initial price for GTX1080 is RM3,300 here, so that's $810.

In India it is listed at INR63000 so that's about  $920ish and that's including preorder bonus

IDK about most people, but I'm willing to settle for more mainstream priced technology. Any GPU that costs more than a game console is too expensive IMO. I try to stick to ~300 dollars or less. 700 dollars is just ridiculous for the average consumer.

In Brazil the $380 gtx 1070 would be R$1368.66, but they just released the price, aaaaand its R$2400,00 ~ $666,79. That's more than 1000BRL almost 300USD IN TAXES.

RIP.

also the gtx 1080 founders is gonna cost R$4.300,00 thats almost 1200USD.

the gtx 1080 >> R$3700,00 ~ 1028USD.

RIP again.

Brazilians get 7-1ed everyday.

the reference design blower type cooling for video cards, from a certain TDP upwards, needs to be taken into the woods and murdered .. gruesomely -_-

also, for the sake of PR, nVidia severely limited the reference board max power draw, making this purchase unadvisable for water cooling and overclocking

To be honest the R13 500 for the 1080 in South Africa is slightly cheaper than most 980ti's on Wootware. However I highly doubt that will be the retail price in my country and retailers will rack the prices up to about R16 000 to R18 000 I believe. Even the R13 500 suggested MSRP is still $850 so yeah I don't see myself buying a 1080 anytime soon.

Doesn't surprise me one bit, really. People who have the money to burn should just buy a 980 Ti.

I know I am not the first person to think of this, but what is preventing me (a 'merican) from buying these and selling them oversees in a way that lets the buyer save money and me make some cash? Is shipping and the tax structure the problem? Do Euro countries have to pay VAT on "used" items purchased out of country?

Yes we have to pay both VAT, duty and probably some handling fee. The amount differs depending on the country.

In Denmark there is no duty on computer parts, but 25 % VAT and 160 DKK (~24 $) in handling fee.

So it can be viable, but personally I would not import it from the states, since warranty is going to be an issue if the card is faulty. Here in Denmark  the warranty period is at least 2 years. But if people want to take the risk you can save a bit of money. (Too lazy to do the math though :P )

expected price where i live... central europe... 785 euro... not as bad as in other countries... but still bit too much for a reference model... going to wait for AIB custom versions and the release of polaris cards from AMD ... maybe then the price will drop a bit...

I wouldn't be surprised at all if the GTX1080Ti would cost aprox as much as a Titan X does now -_-

AMD better stop fucking shit up, or in near future people would need to exchange organs for low tier graphics cards
