i pirate and i dont give 2 f's what people think.  i refuse to give some devs money, ubisoft for example, and there is no way some games are worth the asking price, steam sales take too long so i pirate it. deal with it. i still buy games and products, my windows 10 is legit, so is my office 365. and i have several legit games in my collection, i will buy GTA V for the second time, also fallout 4 when it gets released.....but ill pirate too as long as pirating is easier than owning a legitimate copy *cough* windows 10. all this intrusive spying, issues with upgrading and now this is it any wonder people pirate stuff. 

 

its simple, make owning legit software easy, simple and cheap and people will pay.  oh and as for demos and steam refunds.....you know that your way costs devs more money?  steam still takes there cut even if a game is refunded

The xbox one is getting an upgrade to windows 10 software in November, this particular line will pertain to the xbox one hardware and not windows based pc's and their vast amount of hardware. Microsoft have had this line in the terms of service for Xbox and Xbox live since the very first Xbox was released.

Guess what? It doesn't matter what it is. If Microsoft chooses to say it's "Unauthorized hardware" You're agreeing to them bricking it on your system if you decide to use the services that this policy covers.

If the game isn't worth the money, or the dev's don't deserve it, then guess what? Don't play the game! You don't need to play Assassin's Creed Unity or GTA V or any other game, especially if you feel it isn't worth paying for.

The fact that piracy is so easy now, I think, has given many people an entitled attitude to it and to games.

 

There are always exceptions to when I think piracy is Okay (See below - circumventing DRM for games that you've already paid for, as an example), but "Oh well it's not worth that much", or "Well Ubisoft is Hitler so they don't deserve my money" sure aren't one of them.

 

@Sidiox If you've already paid for a game and are pirating it to circumvent DRM, I don't see that as piracy at all - that's the same as ripping a Blu-Ray to your Media Server so you don't have to put the disc in. You've already paid for it - I don't think that's wrong at all.

I also specifically exempted impoverished nations from my statements against piracy, since that's a whole different issue.

With this, the industry will shift even stronger on providing a mandatory piece of demo on their product before a potential consumer buys the service, game, or any software. I'm betting windows gets some incentive to do this.

I'm not totally against piracy as means of trying a full content demo... but please if you love the developer and don't want them to go bankrupt, support their game by buying it legitimately.

I agree. Basically any triple A game that is released on steam will invariably see a 50% discount within 6 months of release. Often a 75% discount within one year of release.

 

I'd say that's a pretty fucking good deal. If you're that cheap (people in general, not you specifically ) then only buy games during Steam Summer or Winter sales.

As in to be angry against the hardware stuff? Yeah. It seems a bit vague currently.

Well, if they block unofficial drivers, we could just use the generic drivers that work for almost every controller and then use a program that converts the direct input signal to xinput (they already exist), which must be considered middleware and not drivers.

If the hardware thing just applies to the xbox, it's nothing really special. Console peripherals have to be licenced, that's part of the business model of consoles (whether you like that business model, doesn't change this fact) and if someone releases them without permission, MS has every right to block them. iirc Sony made some third-party PS3 controllers incompatible via firmware update, I'm not sure tho.
