Where (or when) can we see the final rankings?

I might be experienced, but I'm human and I do make mistakes. Expand for common PC building advice, a short bio and a list of my components and other tech. I edit my messages after sending them alot, please refresh before posting your reply. Please try to be clear and specific, you'll get a better answer. Please remember to mark solutions once you have the information you need.

Common build advice: 1) Buy the cheapest (well reviewed) motherboard that has the features you need. Paying more typically only gets you features you won’t use. 2) only get as much RAM as you need, getting more won’t (typically) make your PC faster. 3) While I recommend getting an NVMe drive, you don’t need to splurge for an expensive drive with DRam cache, DRamless drives are fine for gamers. 4) paying for looks is fine, just don’t break the bank. 5) Tower coolers are usually good enough, unless you go top tier Intel or plan on OCing. 6) OCing is a dead meme, you probably shouldn’t bother. 7) "Bottlenecks" rarely matter and "Future-proofing" is a myth. 8) AIOs don't noticably improve performance past 240mm.

Anyway, that was a fun event. I've dipped out in the end, partially due to reinstalling the OS and partially to dedicate the GPU to some AI memes. Cyall next year folks!

I only folded on my RX 5700 XT, but I will be back next year and maybe I will have a better GPU then, can only wait and see.

I didn't do 24/7, still don't live on my own and had an exam week in the event. (Plus wanted to game some).

But I managed:

23,2 million points

167 WUs

Based on day 34 I am above rank 250, good enough for what I have.

I will get a new folding month badge tho, that is nice 🙂 (nowhere close to point badge)

Yeah, I'm going to sell my 1660S and see what I can get to upgrade it too without too much extra cost.

Agreed. Remember, everyone, you don't have to fold at full power or 24/7. You can always help out just overnight and undervolt or something like that.

ANNNNNNNNND, for anyone that is interested, there's always the BOINC Pentathlon! That's a lot of fun and includes a lot of teamwork and coordination 🙂

Understandable. My eyes were recently opened to exact EU numbers due to some nice power usage to price charts from techsters

On GPUs sure, its why I typically leave the Mac Mini M1 CPU folding all the time but GPUs I will be more frugal.

Of course you can also reduce the power limit on GPUs, though its probably more useful to the project to just do the odd WU every now and then at full power.

You can also fold while gaming, it will use any spare capacity on your GPU and then just set F@H to finish when you're done gaming.

Router:  Intel N100 (pfSense) WiFi6: Zyxel NWA210AX (1.7Gbit peak at 160Mhz)
WiFi5: Ubiquiti NanoHD OpenWRT (~500Mbit at 80Mhz) Switches: Netgear MS510TXUP, MS510TXPP, GS110EMX
ISPs: Zen Full Fibre 900 (~930Mbit down, 115Mbit up) + Three 5G (~800Mbit down, 115Mbit up)

just move your stuff to a datacenter, can confirm it definitely helps cooling the house!

When my GPU’s sweat, I sweat too.

(or just turn the power limiter down)

Not much of a Gamer….. But I have thing about F@H that may be a little over the top.   See my builds here
