Have NVIDIA changed the Linux drivers?  Just found out I can fold on the GTX 1650 in my main desktop and it doesn't break anything.  When I did that before with my RTX 2080 the OS became a slideshow.

Router:  Intel N100 (pfSense) WiFi6: Zyxel NWA210AX (1.7Gbit peak at 160Mhz)
WiFi5: Ubiquiti NanoHD OpenWRT (~500Mbit at 80Mhz) Switches: Netgear MS510TXUP, MS510TXPP, GS110EMX
ISPs: Zen Full Fibre 900 (~930Mbit down, 115Mbit up) + Three 5G (~800Mbit down, 115Mbit up)

I've been getting quite a few of those too, kinda annoying when you're watching the points go down because it can't send the result.

I think so, not very sure. BUt I do know they've added a GBM backend

Man, off to a rough start with this event, personally! Day one my AIO kicks the bucket, day two my 3080 hits some weird driver bug that causes it to under-perform by 80% -- it was locked to lower power state clocks all day apparently, which brought me from 6 million PPD down to 1.2 million. A reboot cleared it up, but really wish I'd caught it sooner.

Thanks so much for the tip off! I'm now sitting pretty at 4M PPD for one of the better WU projects after I installed the old 21.3.1 driver. Would never have figured it out myself since it seems to run so counter to the usual notion that newer drivers usually improve things (at least for gaming).

Great.  Glad to have you "really" folding. 🙂

 

Yeah, it is rather counter-intuitive, as many people believe that a newer driver MUST be a better driver.  As you've seen, there are times where performance regressions can "creep" in, catching programmers by surprise.  However, this problem has persisted since April of this year, with no resolution.  Even worse, the performance of the drivers has been getting worse for F@H as the year progressed.  So now, I'm left to believe after this problem has been reported (twice by me) that they don't care.  They can't use the excuse that they're surprised anymore.  Yet, the problem persists.  So a newer driver "may" be better.  But better for what?  I think you've found out what AMD's priority here is for their Windows drivers.  Gaming.

My guess it's autopilot would run a red light when you leave it alone potentially killing you...

 

Oh you mean the nvidia Tesla, based on the topic below it would be as useful as Teslas autopilot, but wouldn't hurt to throw it on for a task to find out 🙂

I can't quite make out how many PPD this rig makes, but a well cooled RPi4 will be about 825 per WU, which I'm guessing is the minimum points for a completed WU.  As for what that means in PPD, who knows?

I find this interesting as I didn't think there was Pi support for folding. Well there wasn't last time I looked into it anyway

So my main system isn't 100% stable, I've backed off the RAM speed to 3400 to see if that does the trick for the time being
