There indeed was, it hadn't occurred to me until just a bit ago that it may be a thing (i hadn't seen your reply, apparently i felt it through the force) Disconnected Ethernet/DP/HDMI and then it stopped. I'd suspect ethernet, but how i wonder? 

Edit: i know how ethernet could carry power, but i'm baffled as to how it would be backfeeding into my PC enough to keep all the various status LEDs and motherboard RGB going

Ditto. I would try blowing out the slots for your GPU and RAM, and giving the edge connectors of the memory/GPU itself a swab with a cotton ball/q-tip with some rubbing alcohol on it. Worked a treat for me when this happened.

Reseat + a little clean with some rubbing alcohol seems to have done the trick so far, cheers guys!

check for damaged cables etc.  or if you have a POE switch if you can disable poe on that port. some of the monitors have HML (I think its called) that can power devices over HDMI see if you can disable it.

Damaged cables? the displayport cable is the most probable suspect in that case. i do have a "switch" but it was about 16 dollars so i doubt it has PoE cababilities. as for the HML thingy,  the HDMI cable is actually connected to a DVI monitor, so probably not

yeah damaged like possible bare copper etc.  that could be touching something else that could be providing power etc.  it just very strange...

Recently upgraded to a RX6800 XT but I'm getting atrocious PPD numbers. According to F@H in the dark, I should be getting closer to 4M PPD but i'm only doing 2M PPD in Windows. I seem to be getting half the projected PPD across the 3-4ish projects I've folded so far. The most recent project that I'm working on for example is 18201 (Alzheimer's) which historically gave me alot of points when I was running a RTX 3070 (compared to cancer PUs at least) but the projected PPD is also halved. I initially thought it might be due to the undervolt, but when I go back to default the PPD more or less remains the same.

Anyone know what might be happening here?

Woohoo, 79th on Day one! Last year I hovered around the 90s, so I'm happy so far.

I also added some new hardware. I don't think it's going to make much difference though....

 

It's my storage server's CPU, a 10-year-old Athlon (and a GPU that I added in for Plex transcoding, though I haven't actually used it, and it's too old to be supported by F@H) running Linux. (It's a terrible CPU, but it's also a very lightly used server, so it does what I need it to, and it was free.)

A couple quad core dual xeon mac pro systems running Mac OS and server, an old i5 (3rd or 4th gen) Dell laptop, occasionally a 2012 MacBook Pro (daily driver and productivity/gaming machine that still puts me at around 60fps @ 2k res on an external display in most of my games)...and the one that's been offline for far too long now was an AMD 3400 as a highly undervolted/underclocked remote linux server (commodity hardware budget build mainly used for remote cold storage, sticks to about 50w at the plug under load).  I need to get back to it, as the last updates borked the boot sequence and it locks up on the login screen, but it is a somewhat low priority to travel to until the snow flies.

 

None run all the cores, usually about half go towards folding for these events, with a couple days of higher amounts while I put off other processing work.

All but the remote 3400 run at home, where I have my solar array for electric offset (and another that I really need to get done before end of year, but has been severely delayed due to various support structure construction issues).

I added a Quadro RTX 4000 in the mix. It won't be running much, but I'll have it for at least a few days this month. It's a machine I pay hourly to use, so I have to watch my usage to keep the bill low. I figured I could let F@h run in the background while I'm using it for other tasks, so maybe that can help my score.
