LTT Folding Team's Emergency Response to Covid-19

Go to solution Solved by GOTSpectrum,

This event has ended and I recommend you guys head over to the Folding Community Board for any general folding conversation.

Have any of you guys had issues with hardware firewalls? Our work firewall (Kerio Control) appears to be stopping our work machines from connecting. I'm not sure what to do.

Damn, i lost so many points because i wasn't stop/start folding...
Could make a million according to F@home, but my top has been around half that (running 24/7 mainly GPU)

And that was a lucky day... :(

Btw: I don't think F@home likes it when we spam work requests.. the timeout is there for a reason, which is AFAIK not changeable. I'm also thinking about scripting it, like when gpu usage is below y usage for x minutes, then restart F@home client. Anyone tried this with succes?

if you do it sensibly, it won't. most people don't realise that just because an OC is stable in one task it doesn't mean it will be stable everywhere

take your stress-tested and stable game overclock.
back 25mhz off the core.
back off the memory completely.
95% of the time you will now have a stable compute overclock.

I went back to stock. Too many failing WU's with OC, even with stepping down a few. those core22 are taxing

Went to check my stats now when I saw your post, and I'm pretty sure my PC can't process 5 WUs in a 3-hour window (my 1080ti crunches the smaller WUs in an hour, and larger ones take two):

image.png.2b46d421ae69bdce6861213a7502e70d.png

So some of the WUs most likely have been updated to stats in a later update.

yeah, looks like it's going to be a good day for everyone

Have any of you noticed which project it was on ? I've had it 5 or 6 times  but this morning is the 1st time it didn't recover. All the other times it resumed from the checkpoint and finished.

When I went looking in the logs it's happend on both my RX 580 and RX 590 both of which are running stock and it was Project - 14541 everytime.

Is it just 1 project we are all having problems with ?

Some projects are really picky, especially on some AMD cards, best bet would be to disable OC or underclock CC and MC both by at least a little bit to avoid such bad times.

Why does it show that most of my WUs are going to Default?

It's likely possible that you forgot to put team in one of your system's Advanced Client while setting up.

Keeps saying the GPUs are overclocked when they are not. I've only lost 1 WU most times it recovers from checkpoint.

Some GPUs are factory OC-ed, and some are unstable even if they are not OC-ed, just underclock it a bit and you will 99% be good to go.

Not for me...

I had my count right yesterday, so no bump today, so I'm now all the way back at 418th by daily points behind all those who got readjusted instead of the usual 55th or so 🤣

I've also got way too chonky WUs for my 970 that take 6-7h...

Hahaha, do not worry, there will always be new research, and as you can see, cancer has been here for quite some time and we are still folding for it. So, less thinking, MORE FOLDING! :D

Actually, I think @C3Shark is running CPU and GPU in same time (correct me if I am wrong), and your first slot is CPU which generates less PPD as usual.

Yep, I'm running both all day on this machine. The missing WU's seemed to come through on the 3AM update and some reverted back to yesterdays record.
