Lost the same machine again.  I removed the advanced flag, but I don't want to give up those WUs.  Hopefully some power and clock tweaks get enough stability...

Hi guys,

I got this up and running on a bunch of our machines a few days ago and joined the team, but they all display as 'Online Inactive' and the web control just states: 'Ready'. None of them appear to have actually done anything yet.

Is this just because their servers are being hammered and I'm stuck in a queue or do I need to do anything further?

I did just noticed quite a few errors like this in the log:

07:37:46:WU00:FS00:Downloading core from http://cores.foldingathome.org/v7/win/64bit/avx/Core_a7.fah
07:37:46:WU00:FS00:Connecting to cores.foldingathome.org:80
07:37:46:ERROR:WU00:FS00:Exception: Failed reading core package header.
08:08:16:WU01:FS01:Downloading core from http://cores.foldingathome.org/v7/win/64bit

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance

Can you ping that server and port? Might be firewall issues

It would appear so, if I go to that full URL then the .fah appears to download too.

Would uninstall the client, delete the data, and reinstall.

Got a little spooked, because my daily number was very low on the Google Spreadsheet list.

I think it might have a little to do with this:

Suddenly... 800.000 points (which is about double or triple of what I normally have on the 'hourly' field).

Anyone else had this too?

(Apologies if this has been brought up before already).

Yes. Even the whole team has entire periods showing 0. It catches up later.

Maybe something failed to download and the corrupted remains prevent it from trying again...

Did you actually launch the processing client? You need to launch the "folding @ home" shortcut, not just FahControl.

Actually the client doesn't launch via the shortcut since a few days and I did the remove and reinstall thing so I directly opened the viewer.

Must be something with your connection/firewall/AV blocking stuff then.

All I can think is that it's something to do with the firewall on that network, it's a Kerio Control box, I can gain access to this but I'm not really sure what I would need to do specifically..

Although, if that was the issue would it not also prevent me from pinging that address and/or downloading the .fah files?

I second this,  I have had very little impact to performance and a huge impact to stability since reverting my 9900k to stock and my 1080ti to ~85-90% power target.

Long term stability will net you higher points (not to mention better science) than borderline stable clocks.

Sorry to bother, but: can't you distribute prizes to the lowest ranks? We are a "mass" to the points and WU's, but prizes are the most (rank based) directed to the top 1000. I agree their effort shall be awarded. Right now I am using 3 computers and still not surpassing 2k. :S
I hope everyones electricity bill doesn't get too big. xD

Ty all from LTT ❤️

Edit: My huge mistake. Prizes are more for random than top ones.

Sounds about right. I'm running on one high end gaming PC, one mid-range gaming PC, one WS Laptop, and I tried running on my server but the FAH application doesn't like Windows Server 2019... and... https://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/user_summary.php?s=&u=869943

I wish they got the WU problems fixed. PC is still idling about 70% of time ... Could do so much more science.

Any info on how is it going with extra servers etc?

They've added about half a dozen extra work servers, including another 2 today. The LTT server is online and handing out work units as well.

@DieselWeasel  I am pretty sure that the PPD is an estimate based upon the performance on the current WU, and constantly working on WU's the entire 24 hours of the day.

Pay attention to the base credit and estimated credit shown when working on a WU, and then read the logs as to where credit is assigned.

Yeah I have been looking at this page occasionally. But I'm still not getting enough WUs. Let's hope it gets better soon. Or else this massive supercomputer we have created is being underutilized.

Looks like i was affected by the points lag as well. My 3am update was more than my total points yesterday. It was driving me nuts yesterday trying to figure out how my points were down, even though my ppd and pretty consistent wu's indicated otherwise.

Before, mine was idling 90% or the time, yesterday it was about 40-50%
