So Thursday I get to work and the new guy isn't there, shit happens people are late no big deal. Office girl (coincidentally my best friend from highschool and all around a badass bitch) tells me 'yeah his car broke on his way here it's getting towed right now'. Ok, shit happens, it's a crappy old Neon R/T I figure probably a dead cam sensor, the number 1 cause of a SOHC 2.0 stalling when driving. Car gets there, we push it to the side, lunch rolls around we get some time to look at it. It cranks but sounds like it's skipping compression on one cylinder, maybe it's flooded on one for some reason or just has one with low cranking speed compression. Got spark, got injector pulse, that rules out the cam sensor. No codes set. Got good fuel pressure. Leaves compression, says timing belt is recent. I spray some carb spray down the throttle while he cranks, it sputters and runs for a moment but sounds really unhealthy, we get it to sputter and run a couple more times but it sounds nasty. Ok let's check compression, he pulls spark plugs 1-3 and they look fine. Cyl 4 is tight so I take over, yeah it's not right something is wrong. It feels like I pulling out a knurled thread repair insert with the spark plug. Dropped a valve. Bouncing off the rev limiter banging shifts it dropped a valve.

Welp, I finally picked up a part time job which could fund car costs. But as my luck would be, nothing that interests me is for sale, and what is is incredibly overpriced. I mean people want 8000 euros for crappy MR2s, like 2500 euros for crappy A4 B5s, and like 6500 for EP3 Type Rs... The markets insane.

Custom pinewood case, Corsair CX 600W, Rampage 3 Extreme, i7 980x (@4.2ghz) with ML240 Cooler,  MSI GTX 970, 24gb DDR3, 240gb OCZ Tr150 SSD + 2Tb Seagate Baracuda. 

 

Advocate for used/older hardware. Also one of the resident petrol heads.
