Don't lump me in with them. I'm an enthusiast of mechanic design, be it engines, weaponry, or productive machinery. Not a guy with a wrench that reads the marketing garbage AFE/insert other "enthusiast" brand that can't legally warranty half of their products.

I fail to see a correlation between people screeching variations of "forced induction is more efficient!!! Reclaimed energy!!!" and anything I've said.

If you can't be civil. Please leave

Edit. That goes for everyone in the thread

most the time the parts will come with the needed seals. The issue isn't acquiring them, its installing them without tearing them

Lack of steering return when driving is almost always a binding suspension part like a ball joint or tie rod. Less commonly it's the steering rack or steering gear. When it's a joint it's usually a lack of lube issue which may mean they're badly worn and in need of replacing.

I needed roadside assistance yesterday. The BMW started driving very slowly and just as I pulled over at a bus stop the engine died. Apparently the fuel gauge shows 15L when empty after my spouse ran the car dry of juice... The tow truck was assisting the police with a crash so I waited for an hour until someone I know can with some gasoline. I need to figure out why the gauge now display 15L when empty...

Transfer pump in tank. I have the same issue on my e61

Right, it's going bad and can't pump fuel when it gets too low? Thanks.

any defender lovers here?? I've got a 1985 90, sat on a new chassis, new wings, bonnet, bulkhead, doors, rear door, side panels, both bumpers, all new axles, brakes and suspension as well as rebuilt engine and gearbox.. basically the tub and roof are original. built the exterior and interior to 2016 tdci spec. but all the simplicity of an era before ECUs under the hood! next in line is either a big dirty v8... or its going electric!

They have a saddle tank which is kinda like two tanks , joined above the prop shaft. one side has the pump that supplies the engine this is probably fine, in the other side there is another pump  all this does is supply the first pump when the fuel is low, this is probably faulty.

Alright, I've always wondered how that works. So there was fuel in the tank, just probably not in the left side tank. Thanks a lot. I take it it's the same type of pump sitting there. At full tank I don't hear a worrying noise anymore from the tank area, maybe because the transfer pump isn't doing anything atm.

got a question:

Broke the master cylinder for the front brake trying to get it open(applied some heat and the inspection window went pop while the screws did nothing but strip further :( ) so im probably just gona replace it. Im not sure what to get to replace it though, im not finding any ones that seem to be exactly the same so would going with one thats too big be an issue? I imagine that too small of a master would be a bad thing?

The front brake is a single pot, not sure of the piston diameter. Its a Brembo though so its got to be good, right? :P

Lots of this bike is just a mishmash of other bikes so getting things replaced isnt the easiest thing when you dont know what everything is from besides "front brake replaced with Yamaha", "fork from Kawasaki" lol.

Really need to figure out where those forks are from though because the seals seem to have gone on them, going to try scraping them but i have a feeling the seals are bad.

Sort of considering trying to nab some other Kawasaki forks and some other front brake system and just do a front end swap straight up but thats looking like it will be about as much as the entire bike was so id rather just fix the stuff thats on it now. Really pissed about the front master blowing tbh, but i dont think it was going to open no matter what and im not sure its good inside anyway.

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

From memory a larger diameter master with the same size brakes would give you a weaker apply but shorter stroke. Pushing a small piston a farther distance is easier than pushing a larger piston a shorter distance. If the diameter difference isn't large it probably won't matter a lot.

Should be able to math it out and figure if it's ok or not.

Nothing like half a lambo engine.

They're really just the EA888 4 pot with an extra cylinder. Great engines, though. Just wish they offered one in something rear biased rather than Haldex (ick)
