35 dollar fleabay find: OEM mazdaspeed 3 wheel. A bit of fading but no dings or cuts.

In a dilemma, maybe you guys can chime in.

 

I am going to repaint my NB, I can either keep it silver and just buy two quarts of paint and paint the exterior, or I can buy a gallon and paint the entire car (engine bay, under hood and trunk, etc). Reason for repainting, and you can't see it in the photo, is because of the hail damage on the hood and some small dings and chips around the car.

 

Should I stay with silver or go with a different color?

 

I would love for it to be a darker gray instead of silver, but I'm not sure an extra cost of at least $500 and much more work time is worth it... I think the silver already looks good as it is, though it did have to grow on me.

 

Current state for reference:

 

P.S. Forged pistons, rods, and ARP hardware get here tomorrow! And I pick up the engine on Friday, so excited to finally get this project rolling.

not sure if it makes a difference, but the OEM hood (and maybe fenders too?) are alumin(i?)um. there are some aftermarket steel ones if it has been replaced before (good way to know if it has, the OEM is very very light and flexible)

 

If you stick with same silver then I'd paint just exterior. If you go with a different color then go all out and paint everything. That'd be the /right/ way to do it.

tbh silver is one of the worst looking colors ever, so you're better off just getting a better color. i like the factory grey that mazda offered with the mazdaspeed miata.

Have you concidered going with something like dipyourcar? They've got a real cool white pearlescent that would look fire on your car

I did a buy, and the winner was.... Style 108's!!

 

Let's be honest, in reality they were always gonna win

 

I ended up getting an absolute bargain on a set that have been split down. The seller planned to refurbish them but never got around to it. Works for me, because that's what I was gonna do and this saves me the hassle of dismantling. All bolts are present too, which is good because these are more expensive titanium ones, used on fewer designs of BBS. 

And when I say bargain, £175 for these wheels, it really is a steal. I can rebuild them fresh, in any colour I want, and still have spent less than if I got the Style 38's  

I'm picking them up Wednesday

The only way they'd enforce that is if they had cameras reading plates as you enter and leave the area, like average speed cameras on motorways in the UK. It'd be a completely separate system to the radar guns for speed limits.

I would do blue but I my favorite color is red, and unfortunately I don't like the look of red on an NB! XD

 

I wouldn't mind a darker blue or like Ford's Grabber Blue or something.
