Don't lump me in with them. I'm an enthusiast of mechanic design, be it engines, weaponry, or productive machinery. Not a guy with a wrench that reads the marketing garbage AFE/insert other "enthusiast" brand that can't legally warranty half of their products.

I fail to see a correlation between people screeching variations of "forced induction is more efficient!!! Reclaimed energy!!!" and anything I've said.

If you can't be civil. Please leave

Edit. That goes for everyone in the thread

Yeah, my friends got some and he said they were really good.

Hopefully spending half of all of my money on them was a good idea xD

still a detuned engine compared to the good 911's. Think of the insanity of a 911 gt3 with mid engine layout, it would outperform just about everything.

Unrelated note, I was browsing through my local Ford dealer yesterday after work, not a single Mustang GT Premium with the Performance Pack. About the time I realized that, the sales guy who sold my Focus found me, I had to give him a little shit for their lack of proper Mustang stock.

Yeah, maybe one day theyll do a mid engined version of the 911 and have the rear engined one as like a legacy edition.

Technically not an extensively detuned engine - its the block out of the Carrera S with GT3 suspension. It can definitely make more power but Porsche won't allow it as an OEM.

The 911 will never go mid-engined. There's no sense undermining all that R&D to fill a void that is already served by the cayman / boxter, for no other reason than plastering the 911 badge there.

The only reason they redeveloped the 2017 GTE car is because the way the FIA have updated its GTE class regulations permits a bigger box for aerodynamics, mainly in the rear portion of the car. Hence why you see FR and MR cars like the V8 Vantage and Ford GT who for 2016 dominated in terms of rear downforce alone. For obvious reasons, the 911 couldn't make similar upgrades to their aero package and they were barely able to challenge the other teams at the majority of races. A lot of it was also down to the fact that they were never able to use their Michelin compounds to the fullest compared to the other cars because all the weight is out back, and they can't balance it with sufficient aero loads.

Thus 2017 presented the perfect opportunity for Porsche to petition the FIA to let them waive the production-class mandate that is part of GTE - keep the "production" based motor but now shift it into a different position than is available to a customer.

Example: 2016 GT3-R vs 2016 Vantage GTE

So here's what I don't get about air systems, the compressor pumps into the tank, then from the tank you're 'supposed' to go put a filter and dryer in so water doesn't get to your tools, why don't they give you the filter/dryer with the compressor/tank assembly (and raise the price if you're supposed to have one) between the outlet of the compressor and the inlet to the tank? That way you won't have to drain the tank as much.

About a quarter way through I stopped actually paying attention while reading this and now I'm confused.

Because you get condensation on the inside of the tank from the air being compressed, regardless. It's best to have the filter and drier on the outlet of the tank.

Hm. Okay. I don't have one yet but getting a compressor soon. I'm gonna try and rig up a second tank too. (Perhaps from an old propane tank? Perhaps from a Harbor Freight tank?)

so should I put the dryer on the outlet of the first tank or second one? I'm thinking first because the HF tanks don't have a drain on the bottom? Ideally I'd have a dryer after both...

this air stuff has me all giddy

Wait, you want to run two air tanks? May I ask why and how big these tanks are? 40-60 gal is usually plenty for most DIY applications.

My Mazda 3 (MZR) is the same way. With a light foot, my fuel mileage approaches that of the Skyactiv models, but jam my foot in it, and it can get expensive.

Ran my 65 watt H9 bulbs again today. Was a very big help in the fog where the high beams would just throw glare everywhere. Will throw the stockers back in for the drive home though.
