I think the fact that his parents are making irrational and irresponsible financial sacrifices to afford an extremely high end luxury PC, is the big problem here.

Wait who told you they had to sell them? They never had their own cars and the oven we have is from 1997

Ehhh maybe. The heat density is only going up when you shrink dye size but custom loop is 100% not worth it. Also he has 2 PCs and another side note. He has a 1800X in a $6K PC! AHAH Atleast get a 6950X if you have $6K and a custom loop.

Also most people of my age seem to be more interested in other stuff. For example their parents probably spent 700$ on a phone.

Dude, it still applies.  You already had a PC better than like 95% of the rest of the world, your "secondary rig" why not use that one or upgrade it slowly with say, a new gpu every generation.  You need those 2 PC's way less than your parents could use cars, vacation or a rainy day account.

People get mad because they think you are depriving your parents of things by having a good computer, let alone a very over-powered computer.  .If you begged your parents for the computer then that's one thing and you're a dick.  But if your parents freely gave up things because they wanted you to have a good computer then it's their choice.  

 

While I understand why people would get angry, in the end you shouldn't care and just tell people to mind their own business.  I don't agree with letting your parents dish out a whole lotta money for your rig but it's not my business.

I recently acquired a 2015 Razer Blade, purchased by my parents for my use. I didn't beg or grovel, but instead, produced logical arguments towards the purchase, citing a spreadsheet I created with specs, pros, and cons of each machine, also taking the time to find the best used deal and negotiating the price myself. Even offered to pay half the price, but, in the end, they waived it (thanks so much!). 

 

Groveling and begging will get you nowhere in life, but an informed argument for a reasonable goal will at least teach you something about the importance of a good argument to acquire what you want.

16? At 16 I was working. Beyond the age of 16, my parents would get me anything I needed for school and that was it. I had a car and drove ~20 mins to school every day, but I paid for gas and everything because there was a free bus. They bought me a laptop, because I did actually need a computer for doing school work, but it was a base model MacBook Pro, which I chipped in $750NZD (1/2) for because a Windows laptop would have been cheaper.


I think that your parents are right to help you out, maybe for a birthday or whatever, but I would never expect my parents to pay near $6000 (even in NZD) towards a gaming PC that's just for fun, I'd refuse the money because I know their money situation (earn lots, but have 2 kids in uni, supporting grandparents, moved recently etc). 

 

Basically, when I was 16, if I wanted something that wasn't school related, it was on me to get. I had my first job when I was 14, and I've been working since. Obviously it's all relative to your parents' income, if they earn 400k+ then $6k is nothing but I will always respect someone more if they earn their own money. I won't be impressed with your shiny PC/car/watch or whatever if your parents just bought it for you, I'll be impressed if you worked for it.

The problem here is that if you don't have enough money, you are spending $5800 on something that's simply a desire, and not a requirement. Most of that money was probably spent on water cooling when you could've stayed with air, and used more "in the middle" hardware that may have broken $1200 for everything. Because the money came from parents that are potentially living paycheck-to-paycheck, you are also potentially putting them in a financially poor state over again, something that is just a desire, not a requirement. You could've saved money by delivering newspaper and mowing people's lawns, and maybe have more pride in your PC.

 

With that being said, your parents worked hard for that money I'm sure, and you better be damn well appreciative of the sacrifices they made.

Yup, I was actually painfully close to a 6800k build myself.  I was a bit of a N00B and nearly bought an X99 mobo for $150 but realized it wouldn't work with a 6700k so I didn't buy.  then a 6800k went second hand for 350 CAD and I already had a 6700k system :/ the more I learn...

The builds I have listed in my signature have taken time and a budget to work out I don't just pull that money from my rear-end to spend or neither do I put it on credit hoping to pay it off. :| 

There is no way such an expensive build is needed by someone as young as yourself, have you even been able to justify such a build? Be honest about it - not to me but yourself.

Yes of course it is your parents money but think of the position you put them in, imo you need to go get a job and either a) pay them back no less than half the money but me think 2/3 of the total b) help pay off the pc if they had to put it on credit, that interest is a killer at that amount. The expense was completely and wholeheartedly unnecessary for the needs that you have, a $500-$800 (USD) machine would have met your needs. When building anything above that price point you either have a legit use for it or built for bragging rights. My main system cost me $1200 and it was built with a specific use case in mind, I could have spent less but I use 3 screens for the soul purpose it makes my work flow better so I could have saved $250 by skipping out on 2 screens. I also paid for the whole thing on my own after budgeting it out from other expenses (I have a wife, 5 kids, a house and van to pay for, not to mention feeding them). The other builds I have planned "My Folding Rig Idea" I have in my signature is for both a $4k and $9k builds but those have taken almost 1.5 years to plan on and I still have not fully budgeted the cost as of yet (well I have but just the basics) and those will take time to accumulate, these are not necessary builds but projects I have in mind I want to do. Not to mention the cost of electricity to keep them running. Did you think to consider the cost your parents are having to pay for just on the electrical requirement of such a build? I would hazard a 6k build is gonna pull quite the load from the wall 600-1200 watts?

 

The reason people are hating on you is for this reason; you tout (intentionally or not) the build about and you live in a low income area and you were able to convince your obviously gullible parents into spending that kind of money on a luxury that was not needed and will go obsolete before you can actually use it for its design (and by the way you are being either very naive or facetious about this whole thing). People will also hate on you for the very obvious reason that you don't seem to be able to grasp ... this post is one of them. You brag. You may not see it but that is exactly what you did by making this post, its worded that way whether you think so or not.

Having not read the thread, I can say for sure that if you don't go telling everyone about the computer you got, you won't get shit for it. Enjoy it for what it is and don't brag about it. Bragging is seen as a bad thing in most societies and with good reason: no one likes to be reminded that they don't have everything they want / are everything they wanna be.

I agree. I go to a private school where 3/4 of the school attend off scholarships provided by 1/4 of the school. And that 1/4 is mostly rich asian families that send their kids to the US to study. That also means that you have 1/2 of the school whose parents drive 1990s cars and the 1/8 where a 17 year old has a Ferrari and drives a bugati to school (I'm not exaggerating). Regularly one of them will walk into class with a fancy jacket and someone will ask how much it costs. Calmly he/she will say "Only $6000".(also not exaggerating). So yeah, I know all about that.

Lets move forward assuming you are not trolling, the more I read this thread the more I thought you are just a terrible person,

 

My parents bought me my first PC when i was 12 (Pentium 2, SIS Colormax 8mb GPU) and I did jobs on weekends for my grandparents and parents till i could afford a Geforce 2. I knew my family was not doing well financially so i didn't ask them for it as IT IS A LUXURY!! You even admit you are aware of your family's situation, the fact you even had the nerve to ask for a pc like that is what makes you Disgusting! Truly you already had a rig, a more decent rig than a large part of this forum where they game and have a great time but that's not enough for you, You wanted something you could brag about no matter the effects on your parents. The more I read this the more I find you a perfect example of a spoilt brat, the fact you are not even aware of it shows how large that silver spoon is. 

I can see why "Friends" say those things about you, this whole post seems like a big show off and I noticed you posting similar stuff in another topic but now you went and made your own one so we can focus on you and your Stupidly over powered build.
