Is that a Quadro M5000? I've been wanting one of those for a while now (roughly 5 years or so), and I almost pulled the trigger on one a couple weeks ago. How well does it do in F@h? I love the look of those dual slot blower Quadros.

jep. I also love how these look. I bought it a while ago for near to nothng, then had it folding for a while and now it sits on my desk most of the time for me to look at 😛

It does somewhere around 500 to 600K, so nothing spectacular.

@RollinLower

Giant box car sized gennies. They're really cool to see.

diesel generator site? you mean somewhere there's just a big diesel running 24/7 for generating purposes?

I think they are mostly for high demand situations i highly doubt TVA runs the diesels 24/7 they are probably like the Percy preist dam where during peak hours they run then shut off.

It could also be a VRM issue, when it hits a higher p-state the card would turn on more power stages and that could be where the issue is

Come to find out, after a lot of trouble shooting, it was a power supply issue.  Traced it down to a bad wire in the power supply, fixed the wire and I am back up and folding again.

I would recommend replacing the harness completely or the psu entirely (if the cable isn't module) out of caution power supplies are finicky and better safe than sorry just my 2 cents

on another note i should hit 2B even ~6AM CST Tomorrow if my calculations are correct...and most of the time they are 50% accurate.

At the current rate of 100K PPD that my GT 1030 is doing it looks like I'll need roughly 1,000 GT 1030s in order to get that many points per day. Considering the 30W power draw of each card (give or take a bit) I'll need about 30 kW to power the GT 1030s alone, and then I'll need some more power for the computers the GT 1030s are connected to. Needless to say I don't think I want 30 kW of GT 1030s in my home...

@Shlouski Had an "ah ha!" moment today. I was looking at the specs for GPUs on Tech Powerup and realized that the peak efficiencies I've observed are all around the Base Clock for all the GPUs I've tested so far:

GPU    Base Clock
1660ti 1500 MHz
2060 1365 MHz
2060s 1470 MHz
2070a 1410 MHz
2070s 1605 MHz
3070 1500 MHz
3070ti 1575 MHz
3080 1440 MHz

So it is not surprising you found a Peak Efficiency on the 4090 around it's 2235MHz Base Clock

Well spotted, I guess it makes sense.

I will get around to testing the 4090 more thoroughly at some point, the last few days I've been really busy.

I got this yesterday:

IMG_20221026_050121.thumb.jpg.2bd0edd675eb833994bcb59d2a8a7569.jpg

Unfortunately those 8 pin pcie connectors share same traces and go to all 4 slots, so I need to run 4 cards off one psu.

It gets worse, it looks like the riser is also using power from the motherboard, so actually I will need to run 5 card of one psu.

At 1m ppd at 150W it would be about 66% more PPD than the 480 I have now. It's about 40% as efficient as my 3050ti, for me it was like a good value at $100. And then the 480 becomes a folding month card or goes into the "build a PC for a family member with my old stuff" bin.

How's the efficiency of 1650/super? See a few of those around $100
