Haven't upgraded my gpu for a while, what do you guys/gals recommend?

I have been holding onto my 5700xt for a couple of years now and thinking its time for an upgrade. The budget is pretty much under 500 dollars.

Games that I typically play/eventually will be playing that may be gpu intensive at 1080p resolution with 75hz at MOST with both vsync off and on interchangibly

-Escape From Tarkov (Modded and live version)

-Arma 3

-Gray ZoneWarfare

-RDR2

-Incursion Red River

-Cyberpunk 2077

-Maybe some Xenia and RCPS3 emulation (this is not high on the list tbh)

Might list more to above list when I can

A 7800XT fits perfectly in your budget, and won't be bottlenecked (or barely) by your CPU, unless you play at very high fps. You can also get an Nvidia GPU like the 4070, if you really care about raytracing, but you will get less overall FPS, with less VRAM, so i personally wouldn't buy it

used 6950xt or 3080ti/3090

new will get you a 7800xt which is basically just a 6800xt but 150$ ish more expensive when you are comparing it to a used 6800xt so not too keen on new gpus unless you can stretch abit for a 7900 gre and even that is given a run for its money by a used 6900xt/6950xt

new 6800 are around 350$ which is a pretty good value compared to other new options (6700xt/6750xt and 7800xt)

Do you plan on upgrading the monitor anytime soon?

If not, the 5800X can feed something like an RX 6800, 7700XT, or RTX 4060.

If you will use the same (new) GPU but upgrade to a 1440p monitor, then a 6800XT or 7800XT would be good, and eventually the 7900 GRE. From nVidia, the RTX 4070 Super.

I wouldn't want to run any of these on that PSU.

3080 ti maybe, but the other two not really...

Like many others said, used 6800xt or higher is gonna be great. 7000 series is also good if you like need AV1 but i don't think that's important to you?

7800 xt and above new are a decent find if on sale.

Nvidias side is a little less appealing in that budget but a 4070 super if found for that price is fine, 4070 might be a gpu to also look at but i wouldn't bother too much.

Used market for 3000 series is also fine, if you are willing to upgrade that psu for the future maybe you can get a 3080 ti or better for those numbers, have certainly seen some 3090s go for pretty low of a price.

Is power consumption important to you?

750W is fine. Doesn't leave much headroom especially for 3080TI possibly suffering spikes but on paper it's enough.

For your upgrade to last as long as possible, get the best performing option for $500

Which is probably the 7800XT which can be had for $500 brand new on Amazon

It also has 4GB more VRAM so it takes less of a performance impact at higher resolutions, in case you ever decide to get a new display
