Aukey products removed from Amazon

Summary

The Amazon pages for most Aukey products have been removed without warning. A statement published by Amazon mentions genuine reviews, hinting that Aukey may have been offering compensation for positive reviews, which is against the platform's Terms of Service. This theory has been backed up by a few tweets claiming Aukey was offering up to $100 USD for a 5 star review. If you try to navigate to Aukey's Amazon seller page, you will find that most products have been replaced with placeholders, and the products that remain accessible are marked as "Currently Unavailable"

curious to see how this plays out, I've used Aukey products at least a few times, and have had no issues with it.

My last set of Aukey stuff came w/ those fake $50 gift card things asking for 5 star reviews. This does not surprise me.

they don't even give $100 they just give you these cheap card board cards that say win $100. Like this is more bad advertising then it is good.

I got cards from Aukey saying they'd send me free stuff if I gave positive reviews for it. So. Not surprising. My Aukey USB C cable died recently. Not a huge issue but I wouldn't buy it again.

I have several of their products, and have never had such an offer personally.

Their products, for me, have always been solid and reasonably priced compared to the bottom of the barrel garbage and some more well-established brands so it's a bit disappointing that they were involved in stuff like this. That being said, for those types of products, I've moved more into Anker's offerings when a need arises.

And did you get the free stuff?

I've bought multiple products like that(usually from some Chinese brand) and they usually do end up sending the stuff. Got a few gift card codes, got a memory foam pillow, other types of accessories...
What I do is give a glorious 5 star review, send an email to wherever they ask me to send it along with the link to my review and purchase ID, get my free thing, edit my review to reflect their BS review scam and dock a star or two.

I'm hoping this means Amazon will be trying to do a better job from letting low quality or even dangerous products from being sold. Especially if they have reviews that are fake or misleading.

This is something that plenty of sellers do, no? I guess Amazon just went after one of the large players. Kind of sucks as I like Aukey products for the most part.

I’ve bought two MPOW headsets, and both times I got a card in the box for a free prize by giving a 5 star review. Definitely triggered the alarm bells since those kinds of scams tend to come from sellers that sell on AliExpress/Alibaba and Wish. Plus it pretty much explains the less than 40 dollar price tag for the over the ear headphones and $19.99 for the Flame earbuds. They both feel cheap, especially the Flame earbuds.

im guessing they were handled by a third party than MPOW themselves (ie dropped shipped), most likely due to the unmarked cardboard box they came, in yet they’re really good quality products, minus feeling cheap in some places. I hope they fix whatever is going on.

Shame.. Aukey has beena  solid  brand for me.

And of course brands look to manipulate reviews because Amazon uses the reviews for ranking, so anything not a 5 star review might as well be a 0. I left a 4 star review once, and wrote a long review extolling the product, but all the vendor cared about was the stars.

Looks like you can still buy Aukey products on the UK Amazon, if they come from third party sellers that is.

Aukey might have made middle of the road or decent products, but it's a shame that their outreach folks decided review manipulations were something they needed. It looked like to me that Aukey was doing fine as a seller of middle of the road tech accessories but I guess they really wanted those 5 star reviews.

God damn - I'm curious to see when new information comes out as to what actually happened.

I own plenty of Aukey products - they make excellent cables and chargers. It's a damn shame.

The biggest problem I have with Amazon is there are so many electronics brands that came out of nowhere and many of them are complete garbage that it's hard to trust which ones are good quality brands and which ones are just cheap knockoffs.
