Old LTT Forum look vs New LTT Forum look

Since I had a old ltt forum tab still open with the old design I decided I would do something interesting, I'd display the 2 different versions for historical purposes. Now I can only do this for the main page but it's still cool to see.

 

So first the old version.

If anybody wants me to do a scrolling capture I can, but as you can see there's not really much difference besides all the boxes seem to have got a bit more bulky. Guess that mobile look catches up to everybody eventually.

Why, give a reason other than it's different. Anytime any website has changed people have bitched about it. I bet in 2 weeks you'll have forgotten what the old site looked like

Just keeping this here as a The feel is different on the new look, the flow is different. But yeah it will be forgotten in 30 log ins.

Judging by the post count and the recent posts, that screenshot you posted of the old forum style appears to have last been updated in July. I'm curious why you would leave a tab open in your browser for over 3 months without refreshing it?

My eyes hurt with the new look, so this is the first time I had to use the night theme. The pattern of grey and white menus/categories helped my eyes navigate better, now with the all white I have to use my glasses, and I don't like using my glasses. I think some tweaks need to be made so that is easier on the eyes for the users or maybe a third option for the themes.

Featured topics is still italicised there, just that the forums are no longer bold because they're not unread. To my eye I think that's being rendered with Roboto - have you installed any variants of the roboto font (probably Roboto Black Italics)?

That's weird, possibly some other program downloaded it. I think you should be able to fix it by downloading the full font from https://fonts.google.com/specimen/Roboto?sidebar.open=true&selection.family=Roboto:ital,wght@0,400;0,700;1,400;1,700, or by uninstalling any existing Roboto variants from the (Windows) font viewer.

Red circle with white numbers? IIRC the reply count in the widget has always been grey on both themes, and it wasn't a circle before either, so I presume I'm thinking of a different thing to you.

Here, to the right of the posts, these are very hard to see the post count on the topic (1 in the first case, and 0 in the second) and it used to be better contrasted/much easier to read.
