Windows Update.

Genuinely. The only driver in the system that really should be updated as soon as a new version comes out is the GPU driver, and all three major vendors (Intel, AMD, Nvidia) have auto-update utilities built into the drivers. Everything else does not matter if you get the update within a week or 3 months, and Windows Update handles the driver updates just fine, if not a little slow.

shit like "Driver Booster" came with many variants/clones all of which include good ole viruses because of how they were obtained.

Do not use third party driver update software - at best, it's a placebo. At worst, it's malware and in the middle it's spying on you.

Third party driver update utilities have been obsolete for many years now and are up there in bad-software-jail with registry cleaners and "free" antiviruses.

I can never remember what those are, I think its some Intel chipset driver I'm missing.

Plus I'd never ever trust Windows Update for NVIDIA, especially if playing the latest releases.  Its good enough to get a fresh boot up, beyond that its manual updates all the way if you want things to work properly.

I know im gonna get shot down in flames but In my limited experience the ones by the manufacturer of the board machine are ok. I use the Huawei one and its not caused me any problems i can see. Then again unless blue smoke comes out of it or it refuses to turn on......... 🙂 Plus once you are updated and running uninstall it!

I have mostly good experiences with IOBit Driver Booster, but I have to give a warning about what it can do - it can come bundled with different software (beware during the installation) and make sure you know what you're doing since I've experienced issues of a bad driver install where I had to remove the faulty driver or roll back the changes. Those instances are rare on modern hardware. And the bad reputation Driver Booster got comes mostly from the early versions (the first, 2nd, 3rd), but it's stable since I believe version 6.

I don't trust magic "driver updater" programs. They're sketchy, like those "download a fresh copy to fix .DLL issues" sites.

Always grab the latest stable drivers from your GPU's chip manufacturer (AMD, Intel, or Nvidia) and let their utility handle updates.

I'll install drivers from the OEM or motherboard manufacturer, and whatever gets updated by WIndows Update gets updated. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

I sold my soul for ProSupport.

not always but kind of,

apart from few things like updating GPU drivers (though GPU don't need that often if you don't play brand new games or if they fix some kind of [performance] problem), second would be the Windows, and last one would be usually also pretty much do it once and forget it for next few months/years are Chipset drivers,

for most of anything else I'd follow this quote:
