Is an ASRock B450M-HDV R4.0 + Ryzen 5 5600x good?

Budget (including currency): 100-150 euros

Country: Romania

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: gaming, gaming and gaming. (aka mostly games like minecraft, hearts of iron 4 and minecraft oh and also pubg)

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

I just bought a gtx 1080 meanwhile i have an i5-7400 and i just get bottlenecked most of the time, is that combination good?

I was gonna go with intel but its way more expensive in my country so yeah, time to switch to amd 🙂

Im gonna buy it next month.

1600x900 69hz (nice and thank you nvidia control panel for custom resolution)

oh and btw my motherboard only support socket 1151 6th and 7th gen (b250m-k)

Any help is appreciated :))

New or used? If 5600 is cheaper than 5600x, get 5600.

The MB should be barely enough, B550 chipset would be safer, one thing though the Asrock doesn't support 5600 until certain bios update, brand new MBs should be shipped with updated bios though.

PC:

Ryzen 5 5600 |16GB DDR4 3200Mhz | B450 | GTX 1080 ti

PCs I used before:

Pentium G4500 | 4GB/8GB DDR4 2133Mhz | H110 | GTX 1050

Ryzen 3 1200 3,5Ghz / OC:4Ghz | 8GB DDR4 2133Mhz / 16GB 3200Mhz | B450 | GTX 1050

Ryzen 3 1200 3,5Ghz | 16GB 3200Mhz | B450 | GTX 1080 ti

Used cpu, new mobo, so does that mean my combination is good?

It will work, is it good? Not really ... it's a cheap board that won't handle well more power hungry processors like 5800x or higher, but with a 5600x it would be fine, 5600x doesn't consume that much power.

If you want really cheap and new, there's MSI A520M-A PRO at 280 RON : https://www.pcgarage.ro/placi-de-baza/msi/a520m-a-pro/

Being A520 chipset, no overclocking and you only get pci-e 3.0 slots just like with B450 chipset, but will handle 65w TDP cpus just fine.

GIGABYTE B550M DS3H is a solid <$100 AM4 board that will also give you pci-e 4.0 slots and good mix of usb connectors on IO shield, sata ports, m.2 connectors etc etc .. PC Garage has it at 455 RON : https://www.pcgarage.ro/placi-de-baza/gigabyte/b550m-ds3h/

IF you don't mind used, olx has some boards that are cheap and decent

For example ASUS ROG STRIX B450-F GAMING for 300 RON, seller with good rating, long time on the platform : https://www.olx.ro/d/oferta/placa-de-baza-asus-rog-strix-b450-f-gaming-socket-am4-poze-reale-IDieOoU.html

or cheaper,

I'd say it's decent at best, it will run 5600, but most likely not any faster CPU, just to put you in perspective.

is this new? cause the base model doesn't support 5600 without bios update

It's new .. pc garage sells new stuff, closest to used is open box stuff they still warranty.

5600x is supported from v12 bios,  5600 from v19  ...  v19 was made available in march 2022 so  by now any new motherboard you get should have newer bios, it's unlikely it sat in stock for more than 6-9 months.

v12 bios version is even older, from November 2020
