I have been messing around with windows security and made a windows to go flashdrive and bypassed the lockscreen and went stright to my media and I would like to see a video about can bitlocker be broken

Probably 95% of the people on this forum are perfectly aware that files on a drive are not protected by a windows password. You're right, but it's not quite a surprise.

 

There are known attack vectors for Bitlocker, however they're unlikely to be successfull in practice. (one of the methods apparently relies on cooling the RAM after the system has powered off in order to make it hold data for just enough time for keys to be recovered from it.) Generally, I wouldn't trust a system like bitlocker that for very sensitive information though; I'd rather encrypt it manually onto a dedicated drive like an external hdd or usb flash drive.

i tested veracrypt on some disks and lost my password, now they are useless.

tbh i dont think theres a single file on my pc that I would be too upset about if my pc got hacked.

 

It would be kinda creepy for some random person looking at pics of my kids. but thats really not something i think hackers are interested in.

You'd be surprised. People which wealth or they are of important significance, hackers will target them and use any means necessary to get what they want. Sometimes hacking is used to blackmail people. They get some information that will help them.

True. But im not a person of importance lol.

 

Plus they couldnt really blackmail me. The most they could do is threaten to tell people about my bootleg tv seasons.

I mean yeah anybody could just remove my hdd and mount it into some other os and bam all my files. Am I worried about it? No.

If it is, you should take a look at the fundamentals of computer security before you start worrying about such targeted attacks as breaking hard drive encryption.

A good combination of network and physical security makes it so the average person doesn't have to be paranoid. Encryption is only as secure as it's algorithm and/or the password/salt protecting it.

I feel like hackers would just get pissed that they wasted any amount of time to just end up finding out which pornstars im in to lol.

I've had people come to my friend who is an ethical hacker, they've asked them to hack family members to see if they cheating or not. There are crazy people in the world.

The only really important file on my PC is my password-database and that one is already encrypted. There's nothing else that's particularly interesting, could be used for financial gain or be used to blackmail me, so encrypting the entire drive would be a waste of time.

Bitlocker CAN we cracked via brute force. At one of my last jobs we have a FRED (forensic machine brand) that was just for cracking a lost bitlocker key. It would take anywhere from 1 day to 6 months, but it could and would do it. It was loaded with 3 gpus that from what I could see were low end... 

 

So my point being if you had a more powerful setup it would go much faster.

 

No ultimately it depends on what you are protecting in the vast majority of consumer drive cases it wouldn't we worth the effort to most people.

You should always assume once you gain physical access its just a matter of time before the safe guards are compromised.
