Intel introduces new Graphic Control Panel - Windows 10 Store only

GoodBytes

Intel announces today, their new sleek Control Panel for its graphic chip, replacing the old Windows 8 style one it had for a number of years.

Dub the Graphics Command Center, it features a simple and responsive layout that fits closer to the look and feel of Windows 10 Fluent Design (although still does it's own thing):

This new panel supports Intel's 6th gen Core i series CPUs. Although you can install and run it on older chips, but the panel does seems to be working properly.

Quote

Intel has revealed the layout and overall look (as well as functionality, though that one is always changing) of their new Graphics Command Center app, which showcases the company's vision for a graphics control hub. [...] For now, features keep the minimalist approach of Intel's integrated graphics - this is more of a new coat of paint than a new enthusiast-grade Command Center.

It is available for download from Windows 10 Store:

Intel is joining Nvidia who is also distributing its graphics Control Panel through the Microsoft Store in Windows 10. However, for Nvidia case, they are doing it in the case the laptop or desktop the user purchases has the needed drivers, but the graphics card control panel was not installed with the drivers, so you can get it there.

Reading comments online, people believe the new panel is in preparation for Intel entry in consumer market dedicated graphics card, a rumor that is passing around with a number of leaks supporting this. What do you think?

Could be worse, they could be stuck in command line.

Two out of three who've entered the modern age. Waiting on you to move away from the Windows XP era, Nvidia.

If a large window for a few settings is considered "modern" then I'm kinda glad Nvidia has stuck with the basic control panel.

Maybe I will finally be able to access my Intel Graphics settings to get rid of the annoying bug where the top of maximized windows sometimes have black sections on one of my monitors. It drives me nuts! Currently I just get to old loading and then closing of the Intel UHD Graphics Control Panel and I can't really reinstall anything because work computer.

Yeah that makes sense, it does look nice and with how much Intel updated the app I think it has something to do with their rumored dGPU. I'd like to see Nvidia update their control panel with something, and I don't like geforce experience.

Windows aero with ray tracing. "Hey Microsoft!"

I actually miss Windows aero, IMO aero looks a lot better than the Win10 UI.

I was actually a big fan of the aero glass. I definitely prefer it to the metro theme. I'm kind of curious how 10 would perform if the reintroduced it fully.

More like Windows XP but yeah. It's really disappointing how Nvidia's control panel is stuck in 2002.

I understand people might prefer it,like if it isn't broken why fix it. I don't open the Nvidia control panel very often and really don't mind if overclocking apps aren't built into the control panel.

If it ain't broke.

And if we're being pragmatic, it's better than AMD's new panel.

Come Bloody Angel

Break off your chains

And look what I've found in the dirt.

Pale battered body

Seems she was struggling

Something is wrong with this world.

Fierce Bloody Angel

The blood is on your hands

Why did you come to this world?

Everybody turns to dust.

Everybody turns to dust.

The blood is on your hands.

The blood is on your hands!

I only realized this now, another application that's exclusive to the Windows Store? this trend is getting dangerously mainstream... guess doesn't matter to me then as I'll keep with the old one even if I did want the new one.
